artificial sweetners
Has anyone found that having artificial sweeteners effects weight loss? I have it daily in my coffees and I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea the impact. I'd hate to give it up and I always account for it in my carb total but other than that I'm not sure if it has any other impact. I'd love your opinions.

Like Jenorama I use Splenda a lot. And I know I eat a lot of food that has art. sweeteners in it and I am fine and it has not to my knowledge affected my weight loss as at. Just my personal experience Norma

I had stopped using artificial sweeteners pre-WLS because it wasn't helping me lose the weight. Post-WLS I figured I had to get over if and find somethign that works. For me I find liquid versions more palatable and they don't have the carb add up if you use them multiple times a day. I also use Torani-type sweeteners in my morning latte which has splenda.
I use liquid Splenda for my day-to-day stuff. Use Swerve which is erythirol or brown sugar truvia for baking occasionally.
I did not find it negatively effected my weight loss. I did find using them to create faux carb recipes- supposedly healthy and low carb like a mug cake did effect my weight loss or rather ability to maintain.
I would like to like stevia but overall I don't...and after much trial and error, found this as my go-to...

I reached my goal weight at 14 months out. About 3 years out, I had horrible cravings and was having a hard time maintaining my weight loss. I gave up splenda and now use stevia. My cravings went away. For some of us, I do believe it increases our cravings. If it is not affecting you, then don't worry about it.

I agree with the others. I have been using Splenda since I had surgery and it hasn't affected things one way or another. Others find it detrimental to their weight loss or maintenance. It is a personal thing.
If it works for you than don't worry about it. If you find that it makes it more difficult than you can decide from there. Don't make a problem where there is none.
