Yes!! At the bakery where we order all family birthday cakes, I would pay extra for extra frosting flowers. Funny story . . . although it may be one of those you had to be there. This bakery is in Beverly Hills. I was my friend's maid of honor and was throwing her bridal shower. I ordered a 12" heart shaped cake. Her colors were purple and yellow and I told them I basically wanted the entire top of the heart covered in buttercream flowers (she shares my frosting addiction). They told me they couldn't do that because the cake would collapse from the weight, but they'd do what they could. I paid close to $50 extra for the flowers. When I got to the store to pick up the cake, the girl opened the top of the box with a flourish and there it was . . . a stark white cake with ONE purple rose in the center. WTH? The blood drained from the sales girl's face and I about lost my mind. I'm lucky they didn't call the BH police and have me dragged out of the store. The girl helping me got on the phone and called over to the actual bakery and her manager came over and said "why are you calling them? They're too busy, they won't help you." Want to bet??? I composed myself and went over to the side of the shop where there were all these stick thin BH brides to be having their cake tastings. I asked very politely if they'd like to see the GORGEOUS cake they made me for a bridal shower. Surprisingly right after that they agreed to "fix" (or finish) the cake if I could bring it over to the bakery.

See, funnier if you were actually there. But moral of the story, don't you ever shortchange me on my frosting roses or I'll cut you . . .

Wow, I can't even imagine how ticked off you must have been. Glad they fixed the cake though. Don't get between a girl and her frosting!

Great pics! Love your labs!

I love the Italian frosting that is so thick and sweet you can taste the sugar granuals. Most people think it too sweet. I am not even a sweets person but the Italian frosting? Forget about it! LOL!

Morning guys! Happy Friday!

This week has been busy but good...just so much going on that I feel like I blink and the day is over. Today is just for relaxing here at home and schoolwork.

My pictures for Photo Friday are from this week:

First picture is from when my son and I went to the park, beautiful weather....although someone had peed on the slide (grooooossss).

Second picture is sketch practice from yesterday, noses....ugh noses, they're frustrating to get right...especially when at odd angles!

Last picture is our kitties, Hagrid and Tonks....we got new screens on our house and they are LOVING that they can sit and enjoy the sounds of the outdoors now.

QOTD: I'm going to go with pie on this one, I always had trouble with cake when I had my band and I love pie crust because carbs and sugar!

Menu:

My braces are killing the inside of my mouth right now...they keep poking me so I'm loathe to chew anything, especially after I made the mistake of a bagel for breakfast oops

B: Coffee w/FF 1/2 and 1/2, mini-bagel with cream cheese

S: Protein Shake

L: Hardboiled Eggs w/Leftover veggies of some variety

Good morning and Happy Friday. JB- Good job on making it to the gym. After trying to talk myself out of it, I forced myself to go to circuit class (I'm fighting a cold and all I wanted to do was go home and wallow. I don't do well with colds) I'm participating in a 66 day health and fitness challenge. It involves workouts, recovery and nutrition. No one there knows about my WLS, although they do know I've lost weight. Many of the people are working with a nutrition person there. A few observations. (1) my way of eating is 90% in line with her recommendations (I didn't do an individualized consultation because it would have been a waste for me) but I've seen the macros she's given the others and I'm in line; (2) most of the people in the challenge who are doing the nutrition component have issues with carbs and are struggling to meet the protein goals she's set for them. This was eye opening because in my brain (which isn't always logical) people you perceive as "fit" have a handle on the food . . . that is not so and the knowledge has been freeing; (3) I feel like a fraud commenting on the nutrition posts because of my surgery and I definitely don't want to give them access to MFP because even though my macros are in line with them, my calories most definitely are not. They were shocked when I told them I don't eat higher calories on exercise days (even though, technically I'm still supposed to per my surgeon). I shouldn't feel like a fraud since my knowledge of nutrition was earned, but I do. I find myself typing responses and then deleting them. Just my ramblings on a Friday morning.

JBQOTD - Cake, definitely cake . . . the more frosting the better.

My plan . . . sucks. I was out of food this morning and have cobbled together a bunch of stuff that I don't want to eat. Also, since I'm fighting the cold, all I want is "comfort" foods. What do they say . . . "feed a cold and starve a fever?" I've been feeding this cold with reckless abandon.

B: 2.2 oz ground turkey, .5 tbs pesto, .8 oz cheese

L: I brought 2.6 oz sliced turkey and string cheese but at this point have zero desire for that. But as of now that's what's in MFP

D: Friday is always the big ????? Today is no different

S: Skinny vanilla latte, light and fit and maybe a protein shake????

Ugh, I hate days like this

Good morning JB and crew!

I have been hit-or-miss about posting this week. Crazy with leaving two jobs and moving over to the farm but I realize that one of the things that is falling out is my PLAN. I am not eating off plan but forgetting lots of things like vitamins, whether I had breakfast, how much water I have not had. So I am trying today to get back into that groove.

QOTD: OMG. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I used to just love it. However: I think my tastes are changing. The other day my mother made potato salad. I was afraid because I love it. I had a spoonful. It was not the same. Tasted the same but I did NOT want more. What I want these days is beef jerky. Any kind of jerky actually. Eat it and move on to trying to figure out how to get two donkeys and three goats to the farm ;).

B: 1/2 Premier Protein with coffee and Miralax

L: Dannon Light & Fit greek peach, hb egg, salad and lite ranch, 3 beet slices

D: Chicken taco meat with salad, shredded cheese, salsa

S: Beef jerky 1-2 oz, 2 T PB on a spoon, diet cran something with water

Totals: 814 calories, 79 protein, 46 carbs 39 fat

Hey! I am suddenly getting away from protein drinks and yogurt! I keep bring the same tired old yogurt to work and not eating it. Distracted I guess, but also maybe I am finally getting to a real sustainable diet.

Pictures: One of me and Chip the donkey, the other is one of our high-end new tents.
