Many people tell me that I need to get rid of them and only wear my smaller sizes. Why is it so hard to get rid of the "fat" clothes?

it was easy for me to let my fat clothes go. They were pretty ugly and I was looking forward to buying new to me things from Goodwill n thrift stores.

leeping fat clothes feels like giving myself permission to gain back into them. Something new size getting snug? Oh, just whip out the fat clothes, leads to no accountability to maintain my loss, to me.

I was almost obsessed with getting rid of them. I kept one pair of pants and the rest went to goodwill. I really felt so liberated tossing them all in bags and delivering them. For me it was like a rite of passage.

I had a hard time giving up my clothes because I had lost a lot of weight before, gotten rid of my clothes, gained the weight back, and then regretted giving everything away. I didn't want to go through that again, but having clothes in every size on the way up and down took up a lot of space -- space that my SO wanted for his workshop. I made a promise to him that I would get rid of everything by my two year surgiversary. I would say 90-95% are gone. I have kept one pair of jeans to remember how big I was and a few things I couldn't ever replace. I figure there are lots of plus size ladies in my community in need of clothing that would be better used than sitting in storage.

I had a really hard time getting rid of my first batch of fat clothes. I had lost 100 pounds and had not gotten rid of anything. Part of it was probably the fear of gaining it all back like I had before. Part of it was probably laziness on my part

To reward myself for reaching the 100 pounds lost milestone, I remodeled my closet. I tore out everything, painted it, and then I installed a nice cherry closet system. No way were my fat clothes going back in there. I donated 10 bag of clothes as soon as I finished. I remember that my closet was so empty then!! After that, getting rid of my clothes was easy (I went on to lose another hundred).

I used to keep clothes one size bigger, "Just in case" but recently got rid of them, too.

I kept mine for a year after having surgery(mostly pants) I only wore them for six months after, but I kept some of the shirts and wear them as night shirts.

I find myself holding on to one size above where I currently am, just in case. So far, 2 sizes have been given away.
