It's a mostly good article, but he repeats yet another myth -- that caffeine is a diuretic. It's not, and it's been thoroughly and scientifically proven.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

I, personally, stay away from diet pop as I try and avoid artificial sweeteners (I'm not very good at avoiding them, so let's just say I minimize them!!). That being said, I love sparkling water and I drink probably 30-40oz of it a day. I have no issues with discomfort.

So happy to see everyone responding with factual information - that it does not stretch or damage your pouch. I've been drinking carbonated drinks since about 10 months out and no real issues except gas pain sometimes. I have it maybe once a week and always sugar feee. I still have really good restriction at nearly 3.5 years out. My advice is to know your own triggers and be diligent. We are ALL different.
