I completely concur with Daisy's post.

How do I know? I have meticulously weighed, measured and logged everything that goes into my mouth for over 1300 days.

I am 5'5' (1.65 m) tall and have lost 220 pounds (99.79 kg). I have been maintaining for two of those years. I am going on four years in December.

I maintain my weight of 128 to 138 pounds (58.5 - 62.6 kg) eating 900 to 1000 calories per day. I have to eat fewer than 900 calories to lose. I lose best between 700 and 800 calories.

I still haven't ever eaten 1500 calories.

I would say the proof is in the pudding. You aren't losing -- so it's too many calories for you, too.

I wish my chirgeon and dietician would look at it that way too. But they keep saying eating under 1200 calories is starving yourself and will slow down metabolism. But what I'm reading here, proves them wrong. So, I'm letting go of their guidelines to find out what works for ME.

Could you tell me what you eat in a day, for example?

I am really confused now... Why do they make me eat so much and then tell me they have no clue why I'm not losing weight! And that I'm probably not eating enough. Makes me kind of pissed right now.

Don't be mad. There's a lot of programs here that give that advice, too. But, if you look at their patients, you will find they aren't reaching the goals they really desire.

I eat mostly beef, chicken, seafood and fish. I eat bacon and sausage sometimes. Eggs and some cheese. I have small amounts of dairy -- and I never ever limit my fat. Fat is our friend.
