Upset stomach

Im almost 3 weeks post op. Im on my full liquid diet. The last 2 days Ive had an upset stomach. Im not sure how or why Im having this issue. The only thing that is really different from the clear liquid diet would be the blended creamed soup. Is there anything I can take, medication wise, that can settle my stomach?

3 weeks is a long time for full liquids. Most of us had moved on to something a bit more solid more by that point in recovery. That being said, I would never recommend not following your surgeons plan.

One thing I've learned is that the eating plans are for the most part "one size fits all" and the reality is that everyone is different. I had "creamy soups" on my plan but I abandoned that fairly quickly and ate any soup I wanted to as long as it was pureed. My fave was split pea with double smoked bacon from a local chain. Black bean was another. Both have decent amounts of protein.

Another thing is that our GI tract has been altered so drastically that certain foods that we had no issue with before may now be a problem. Perhaps your own GI is tired of all the cream?

I'm not sure about medication. Peptol Bismol and the like are a big no-no as they contain NSAID's. Sometimes the best cure for an upset stomach is to rest it. Fortunately we're in a unique position where not eating isn't too much of an inconvenience.

Thank you for your advice! I really appreciate input from those who have gone through this procedure!

couple of thoughts-

are you on a PPI? protonix acid reducer? could be acid

if there is milk in the soup you could be getting sick off that.

are you drinking enough water?

I was thinking that as well - some people don't tolerate dairy after surgery.
