Hi all, happy Tuesday!

Seems sometimes that people are just the worst. Between religious manias which advocate the wholesale murder of all those who are different and the incomprehensibly irresponsible laws allowing everyone full access to weapons specifically designed for slaughter, it seems like every few weeks there is a new horror. So sorry Daisy that this latest tragedy hit you and your countrymen so close to home.

More hopefully, how adorable is that little Princess Charlotte, waving to the crowd as she goes to welcome her new baby brother? Babies are the best thing ever! And the announcement of a new plastic-eating enzyme is potentially and quite literally life saving for our world! My dad always said we'd develop a bug to consume all of our plastic detritus and thereby declutter our beautiful world - I thought of him the moment I read about the discovery.

I had a great weekend - invited a bunch of people of I had just met over for a super casual party on Saturday evening, which was great fun! And Sunday my son and DIL came over, and I took them out to dinner. I live on an island and there really isn't any fine dining that I've discovered here - heavy fried food, pizza and pasta seem to dominate. But we all had burgers (no bun and only half the burger for me) which though overly greasy were ok. But even though I did not eat anything particularly off plan (though I did have some cream cheese-based clam dip I made, which packed calories) either at the party on Saturday or on Sunday, I didn't weigh anything I ate, and somehow the scale was up 2.6 pounds on Monday! Booo! So not good! It dropped .2 pounds today but I am bummed, I was hoping to cross into the 100s this week but probably won't now. In another way this was a good sharp reminder to me that constant vigilance is the key. But I still got on the scale to see if any damage had been done by my two days of unstructured eating, which I am happy about. So the key for me is constant vigilance, along with stepping on the scale every day no matter what!

QOTD: My mom gave me a beautiful gold watch which I wore until it got too tight. Now that I can wear it again I can't find it! I hope it is in one of the boxes I have yet to unpack, fingers crossed! I like wearing a beautiful watch.

First: tea, tea, tea

Have a wonderful day, my fellow RnYers!

I did see some articles about the van incident on social media but didn't read them yet, I don't have cable TV and don't listen to the radio since I am an audiobook fiend so sometimes I am completely out of the loop until I see it on FB or people at work talk about it. It's probably not great to be so ignorant to current events but to be honest I sometimes feel better NOT seeing all the tragedy...when I do see it or read about it I get very emotional.

QOTD: I have worn a watch pretty much every day of my life since I can remember (maybe since high school?)...My fossil watch battery died about 5 months ago and I got myself a knockoff fitbit to see how I liked it. so far it works for what I want it to do which is basically just telling time, counting steps and reminding me when I've been sitting for too long at work so I can get up and walk.
I feel completely naked when I don't have a watch or something on my wrist!

B: I split in half a 1 egg omelette w/gouda & smoked sausages with my 3 yr old this morning.
coffee w/half caramel PP
L: 2 turkey meat sticks and 1oz gouda cheese
planned on a yogurt this afternoon but its already 4pm and I am leaving work in 30 mins so probably not.
D: probably leftover chicken or egg salad or a stuffed meatball.

I have not had enough water today- i had my annual "women's" exam this morning and it threw off my whole day. still trying to catch up!

BTW, just out of curiosity, any of you ladies have any experience with IUD's? I am going to have the Mirena put in, I figured it is probably the best option for me since i have endometriosis and I know the pill is less effective due to malabsorption... my husband and I went through IVF for our daughter after 5 years of unsuccessfully trying and I don't think I'm at a huge risk of getting pregnant, but there is always that chance after losing weight that I'll magically become more fertile and turning 40 years old in June, I think I would rather not. Also don't want to take the risk of it happening too soon after RNY and being dangerous for myself and an unborn baby...so IUD it is.

hope everyone had a fantastic day!

I had a truly terrible pelvic infection when I was around 22 as a result of an IUD. I was in extreme pain and it took a long while to fully recover. I should never have been given that, as I hadn't yet had a baby. As a consequence of that infection, 10 years later, I had an ectopic pregnancy. Needless to say, I am not a fan.

thanks for sharing your experience. I am sorry that happened to you, I am sure it was very difficult!!
I have had a baby and did discuss my concerns with my midwife and she said I was a good candidate...I do have a girlfriend who had RNY about 8 yrs ago and had the Mirena IUD for a long time and loved it, so I am trying to weigh the pro's and cons.
I am definitely keeping in mind there can be side effects but I feel like it's the best option for me right now. I guess I will have to take the risk and hope it works out.

I wish you the best of luck with your choice! Things must have improved since my debacle, many years ago now. I was very fortunate that I was able to have my baby, given that experience. May yours be radically different!

I'm glad you are OK. Such a trauma.

My sister is a watch collector . You can not believe how much I know abou****ches through osmosis.

She is sending my son his first grown up watch for his birthday. A Seiko automatic diver. No battery. Waterproof. Classic. She sends me watches but she's mostly stopped now. Someday she will send me a Cartier tank watch.

I ate eggs ,coffee with milk.tuna, and some yogurt is up next. Also the meat insides of some taco truck tacos. Little dry.
