Happy Tuesday Gang. I'm in the scale house again, but I kind of don't mind. The A/C is blaring and I got to call out a resident who felt they could just dump whatever they wanted including a huge mattress that we do not take. Public humiliation can be a good thing especially since it really ****** the other residents off that some of them don't follow the rules. I picked some Summer squash last night and planted some eggplant and peppers they are a little bit of a later crop.

Irvin wanted to try beet juice so I picked up some beets. We have a juicer that was gifted to us years ago and have only used it a few times. I peeled the beets added turmeric root, ginger, lemon, and black pepper. It almost tasted like V8 juice I really liked it, Irvin said it was OK a little earthy.

QOTD: Who here likes root vegetables? I really enjoy them in the Winter roasted. Though I make a nice chicken soup with turnip, parsnip, and carrots. I also like pickled beets but haven't made them in a long time. I'm thinking of growing some in the early Fall.

B: coffee and 1/2 cup cottage cheese with raspberries

L: salad with sliced ham/cheese

D: grilled shrimp with kale and red onion salad

30 minutes on the treadmill

Have a great day everyone!!!

Good mornin y'all!

I had to cancel my PT appointment today. I'm feeling not so great. I feel really bad about it but it is what it is now. I'll just do the exercises here later today.

We have the thrift store we frequent coming to pick up our old TV stand, recliner and a doll house. It'll be so nice to get it out of here BUT we, meaning me, will have to put together the new one that's been sitting in the garage. Not particularly looking forward to that lol. I had a rough night of very little sleep. It's been raining all night off and on. It's humid enough to take a bite out of the air. We are not used to humidity!

Jim, hope you got your meds figured out!

have a good one y'all!

QOTD:I like everything but beets. I hate them. A lot lol. I love everything else pretty much.

B: breakfast burrito and coffee...oh and two small molasses cookies ugh.

L: thinking an egg with a slice of cheese and maybe a piece of toast?

D: no clue at this point.

I worked with with a lady who only drank juice. She said once that her beet juice tasted like dirt. When my husband was on chemo he could not eat most food but could drink juice.

I had a juicer and made him juice everyday. I used beets, carrots, apples, lots of fruit and vegetables.

I love root vegetables and try to eat them often. I do want beets pickled but buy them already pickled. I am always looking for recipes and ideas like honey on roast carrots. Sometimes I go to restaurants where they accompany a meal with parsnips or turnips and prepare them do well.

Good morning, everyone!

I don't remember whether I said this, but we are going on a cruise leaving Sunday evening. The itinerary is that we fly to Iceland, sail to Greenland, down through the Maritime provinces of Canada and wind up in New York City. All of our kids are coming.

Because of this, I have a bunch of stuff I need to take care of: work client stuff, non-client stuff that is time sensitive, errands and packing. Right now, I am at the car dealership getting my oil changed. After, I am headed to Barnes and Noble to get some books for the plane rides.

So far, so good with my meds: of the 5, 2 were eligible for refills, 2 are $20 a month prescriptions, and 1 is going to require an approval from my insurance because it's an expensive prescription. Even if I have to self pay that , it will be cheaper than a flight and car rental.

QOTD: I love those, including the obscure ones that Mary mentioned.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: turkey

Dinner: hamburgers

Have a great day, all!

Sounds like you are a busy bee. If I can lighten your load at all, including by being boots on the ground, let me know. I'm happy to help.

Good Morning All! Just moving along through the week so far. I have a few things I need to work on the next few days before we start our next round of payroll. The heat is coming back after a break for the weekend, which I am glad we took advantage of. Em is moving to anew this coming weekend and hopefully my role this round will mostly be indoord working on unpacking/organizing.

QOTD: I am not fond of many root veggies. I use some for "noodles" at times but that's about it.

My menu is the same as yesterday and I am taking a exercise rest day but my vits and water on track.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Hi everybody! Checking in quick today and then I have to scramble to get the house ready for the grands this afternoon. This will be the first time we've had the baby here since she's become mobile so there is a lot to protect her from. They all will be picking raspberries and the unripe red currants, if I know them. That's the whole reason I garden...to get the joy of seeing them eat it. I should set a stopwatch on the red currants, they decimated them last year in under fifteen minutes I think.

QOTD- I got (very unpleasantly) punished for not eating veggies as a young child so when Mom joined this new thing called Weigh****chers in the 60's we all had to learn to eat root veggies too. (And liver, and cold green beans from the can for a snack-ugh.) She never cooked parsnips so I learned to love them as an adult. Next year I want to try to grow Japanese Burdock for my son who is a Japanophile. Kohlrabi isn't technically a root veggie but I adore them fresh in the summer dipped in a yummy dressing. Also jicama...yum, yum, yum. But a root veggie slow roasted with meat in the winter is so good.

B-chocolate protein/collagen shake

L-1/2 c ff cottage cheese, sprinkle of sf raspberry jello, 1/2 c raspberries

D-Chaos. If they stay for supper I'll be too busy to eat. DD and two of the grands have Celiac, Hubby refuses to eat anything gf as a substitute.

Enjoy your Tuesday and keep cool!
