Feel better! That sore feeling after overdoing it is no fun!

Happy Thursday!! I am so tired...but I'm more than half way through week one back at work and I wisely am giving myself a relatively unscheduled weekend to recover! Yesterday kicked my butt but I was proud of myself for getting on the treadmill at 8 at night even though I really didn't want to -- got in about 35 minutes vs the 45 I had planned but also got over my 10K steps for the day. I also got required protein, vitamins in but was a little light on water.

QOTD: I love the Marvel series on Netflix so I did binge watch Season 2 of Jessica Jones before I went back to work; I'm also a big fan of the Hap and Leonard series which kept me company on my treadmill yesterday!

B: Protein coffee (4oz fairlife skim plus 8 oz coffee)

S: Protein Coffee

Lunch - Chobani non fat Greek yogurt

S: Protein water

Dinner: 1 string cheese, 1 oz deli turkey breast chopped

Totals: 450 calories, 69 protein, 18 carbs

I have a question for those of you that use PP with your coffee -- do you use it like half and half with just a little in each cup or is it like a cafe au lait where it's half PP, half caffieney goodness?

Good Morning!! Yesterday was an ok day but my stomach was a bit unhappy so I think I'm going to stick to some easily digested foods today.

Accountability: the deli meat I had in the morning didn't agree so I made some swaps with an additional string cheese. Ended up about 60 calories higher than planned but also 10g more protein so at least it was balanced.

QOTD: I have the best sister in the world and she just can't get past the malabsorption aspect, I've walked her through all the vitamins; I've shown her this thread so she can see what people who are not 5 week out eat but she's just worried anyway.

Time since surgery: 5 weeks!

B - protein cafe au lait (4 oz fairlife skim + 8 oz coffee)

S - .5 PP

L - .5PP

S- Protein 20 water

D - Chobani non-fat

Totals - 494 calories, 89 Protein, 22 Carbs

V - I went to bed so early last night and forgot my evening multi & calcium chew but have taken today's morning dose.

E - 45M treadmill walk

Did they get your computer working? Mine was still somewhere between our corporate office and my office when I went home; I'm hoping it will be sitting there waiting for me when I get in.

I don't know if it will help you but I'm also a good chewer but fast eater -- since surgery, when I eat, I turn on the stop watch on my phone -- if i feel like I'm eating to fast, I make myself wait 3 minutes by the stop watch between bites! Since I'm still on very few ounces per meal, I also make sure I stop when I'm full or at 20 min if i'm not done. Seems to help a lot! (Interestingly, because I am a chatter box, I noticed that when I'm eating with some one, I eat slower because I can't put food in when I'm getting words out, lol).

Good morning! Happy tuesday! I made it through my first day at work (although I was exhausted!) and realized that my fluid intake might actually be better at work -- somehow I forgot that I drink two 20 OZ hot teas (non caffeine, no sweetner) a day when I'm there so that was a happy reminder!

Accountability: Not sure why but I got really anxious about the carbs from the yogurt I had planned .5 for snack and .5 for dinner so I swapped them for a string cheese snack and 2 oz deli roast beef chopped for dinner; ended up higher protein, lower cals and carbs than planned! I also ended up working out a bit more than planned so that was good!

QOTD - I've not had RH or dumping yet. I'm sure it will happen and I'm not looking forward to encountering it.

Time since surgery - 5 weeks-1day

B - 4 oz fairlife, 8 oz coffee; .5 vanilla PP

S - 4 oz fairlife, 8 oz coffee

L - 2 oz deli roast beef, chopped

S - string cheese

D - 2 oz deli peppered turkey breast, chopped

S - .5 vanilla PP

Totals - 434 cal, 63 Protein, 10 carbs

V - on track!

E - trainer for 50 minutes today, also ensure 10K steps

That's how it goes, isn't it? I sent my laptop off to be updated as I was leaving the office for surgery, with a note on when I'd be back....I'd say it's 50/50 on if it's there when I get there or not, lol.

Good morning everyone!

This is my first time posting in this thread -- today is my first day back at work and I'm so stressed about doing my job well and getting in my fluid, protein and exercise. I was lucky to have the time off to focus on that and now I'm going back to reality. I know this thread and the pre planning it helps me do will keep me on track! Per the RD, this week I'm moving between purees and mechanical soft right now depending on how happy the new stomach is with a goal of getting to at least 2 meals that require work from the stomach!

QOTD: A few years ago, in Morocco, I had straight from the camel camel milk. It was foamy, warm and salty. Our guide said that a handful of dates and camel milk make a complete meal and it's very healthy --- but you won't see it on my menu planning!

Time since surgery - 4.5 weeks

B - 4 oz fairlife skim + 8 oz coffee (X 2); .5 Carmel PP shake

S - half greek yogurt

L - 2 oz Black Pepper Turkey breast, chopped

S - .5 carmel PP shake

D - half greek yogurt

If I need something after dinner/before bed, I'll have a 4 oz of milk.

And lots of water and hot tea once the coffee is done!

Totals - 71 Protein, 635 Calories, 43 carbs

V - my pill box is loaded for the week and I've gotten a good routine of multi (no Iron) and calcium chew after breakfast, set alarm for 2 hours and take iron and then multi and calcium chew again after dinner.

E - as soon as I finish this, I'll hit the treadmill for 45 min and then I'm joining a meet up group this evening for the first time to do a couple of loops around a local park.

Have a great day everyone!

Topic: RE: New

Major surgery is nerve wracking but my experience was good. I was most concerned about the anesthesia making me sick (I've had a bad experience in the past) so I made sure that both the surgeon and the anesthesiologist knew my concerns. I did end up in recovery longer because I was so nauseous but they took very good care of me and all was well. I was only in the hospital about 24 hours total; rarely had to use the self administer pain pump during that time (the nurses kept coming in to tell me to use it if I needed it, but I didn't need it) and by the 3rd day I was on tylenol only for the pain. My program had me do a week of nothing but full sugar gatorade the first week -- I was very happy to get off that week.

I would encourage you to take whatever time off your dr recommends; I found that the first couple of weeks managing the fluid intake and the waiting periods and then the food and the waiting periods to get to my required protein and fluid goals felt like a full time job; I am not sure I could have balanced them with my normal job.

You mention the diabetes -- that was the main factor in my decision for the RNY -- I was off the meds the Tuesday following my surgery, so less than a week!

Good luck to you tomorrow and stay as relaxed as you can today -- you've got this!

These are super easy to make if you ever want to try that. Just grated parm, about 1 tablespoon, and bake 3-5 min @ 400 (use parchment paper and you don't have to have any added grease/oil).

Topic: RE: Premier Protein Shakes - New flavors!!!

I went and picked up the cookies and cream today -- in the same display, they had a premier protein water (tropical punch flavor)-- 20 G protein, no sugar but 90 calories. Has anyone tried this? I'm only 1.5 weeks post op so I wondered if it might help with getting the protein in but then I worried about only supposed to be drinking 0 cal beverages so I didn't get it; I don't see the nutritionist for a few more weeks so thought I'd see what the crowd thinks?
