I am a Bear den leader for pack 1561. Our pack is dwindling to nothing. I have hardly any parent support. Im basically Cubmaster, committee chair, and all around den leader. UGH Im planning on having the surgery in the spring. How are you handling your recovery and scouts too?

Ive been a cub scout leadsr for 4 years. Our pack is slowly falling apart due to parents just wanting to drop the boys off. We've lost our leaders and Im IT. I have my consult sched with the surgeon on 1-11-05. Im 345 and 5'9". bmi 50.9. I hate that I can't do alot of the physical stuff outdoors with the guys. I'm all they have. Thats just another reason to have the surgery.

Hi! Vickie here, and I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster in the Chief Seattle Council in Washington State. We just transfered to Troop 474. I don't know much yet from this troop, but the previous troop I was with didn't care much for women working the troop. My boys also were finding the troop wasn't much into doing much hiking and advancement activities, so we transfered as of two days ago.
I had my GBP Distal 11/11/03, and have found my scouting experience to much more fun, and able to actually go on hiking outings when they did them. The newer troop we transfered to does alot more physical activities and am hoping to achieve my goal of attending WoodBadge in the Spring!

Hey Sherrie...
My name is Allee and I'm from northeastern Vermont. I've been through the cub scouts with my three boys and now have two eagle scouts with a third almost there. A good program can do wonderous things. Use the handbook faithfully and plan some special outings....Also, when possible, try to take your boys to open boyscout events so that they can see what the big boys do.....it really pumps them up knowing that some of those activities are in their future! Have a great scouting year!
