Just got Approval... what about letting work know???
I wasn't going to tell my principal until after I had a date. I am trying to schedule it for summer, but I haven't even been approved yet. We had a faculty meeting to discuss the sub situation in the county. After that, I cornered him and told him. He was very understanding and told me I would have to take a medical leave and to let him know when I had a date. He seemed impressed I was trying to not interfere with SOL's (Virginia) and that I had the days.
Dear Gene,
Congratulations on getting your approval for WLS!!!
About letting work know about the surgery, I think that telling them should not worry you that much. Your primary concern will be on recovery from the WLS and also on the knowledge that you will be making a major life style change for the rest of your life. Maybe it would be best to have the surgery during the summertime so that you will have plenty of time off from work to get it done and recuperate. Then you won't have to tell work if you don't want to. Personally, I would not tell work just yet. Hold off with telling anyone at your job now. Then when you really feel comfortable with telling others about the WLS then you can come to the conclusion of whether you want to say anything or not.
I hope that I have been some help to you.
Lots of luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery. Soon you will be on the losiing side!!!
Sincerely yours, Annette
