went back to work this week after 5 weeks off. surgery was 11/29 and i have lost 45lbs. however, i am a 10th grade english teacher and teach lower level kids. they have been wild, and i am exhausted. any suggestions? i am trying so hard, but yesterday i broke up a fist fight in my class, and all this was after having been sick lst period, disgusted enough to walk out of my 2nd period class for the last 9 minutes, and then the fight 4th period. i am still struggling trying to get the diet and water right, but nothing is regular and i can't seem to depend on anything. i am glad to be back to work, but i can't seem to wrap my head around how to juggle it all. all of my kids are good, and they know about the surgery. but even knowing that, they haven't altered their behavior one iota. i am a good teacher and don't have problems, but right now i just can't do emotionally what i normally do, and the kids lack of compassion has really bummed me out. easy

Hey Diane, I guess I forgot to mention that I ditched hubby for the weekend and Althea is coming with me. I was able to change the room DH and I had and get a double instead. DH would have been able to come for a night, but he would just as soon I take someone with me and make a weekend of it. So, it's a girl's weekend out! Woohoooo!!! Christie

Way to go Christie! Adjoining rooms will make it even more fun and convenient when we do the make-over on you know who. I'm glad your going to be right there with us. We may drive DH crazy though. Your right, this month is going to be busy, but great! Diane

Thank you Christie for your thoughts and prayers. I think mostly my problem is that I still have my drainage tube. I can't have it removed until I'm under 25cc. And I'm still about 40cc. I want to be able to back to week by the 10th. Mostly, I hate inactivity. I am so use to going all the time either to church, school, or to association meeting, that when I have to stay put, I hate it after a few days. People ask me all the time when I'm going to slow down. And I always say there will be time for that when I'm dead. Hope you have a great 2005 and your students are ready to start back to work on Monday. Diane

Hi Lisa, Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I'm glad you are going to be able to take that much time off to recover. You really won't need that much time, but it is nice to recoup at your own pace. That's why I did mine when we got out for the summer. Keep us posted on your progress. Happy New Year Christie

Hey Daine, I sure am enjoying my time off. I'm trying to STOP shopping long enough to get some things done here at home and in my classroom. My hubby told me today that there were no more sales and my shopping was over until next year. I think he's lost his mind. Now is the time for the "real" bargains. I'm going to sip some decaf, relax, and ring in the new year. Happy New Year and I'll see you next week in Birmingham. Then I'll see you the next week in Atlanta. Then I'll see you the week after that in Guntersville. Man, we've got a busy month ahead of us. By the way, did you hear I got us adjoining rooms for the OH Atlanta event? We're gonna have so much fun. Christie

Hey Diane, Congratulations on your revision. I am sure you will be thrilled with it by the time summer gets here. Are you taking pain meds? I know any time I've hada to be on those I get a little down. It seems they make me weepy or over emotional. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Christie

Yes, I am truly enoying my time off. I can when I want to, relax in a when I want to, and all that fun stuff. Of course it will be over on Monday but it will start over in four weeks because that is the date of my surgery. My surgery date is on 01/31/05 and I will take off approximately six to seven weeks. Then, two weeks later, I will go on Spring Break. I love being a teacher. Lisa

Ha! Good point, Jack! I teach high school (9-12) computer stuff - a Microsoft Office class, as well as web publishing and digital imaging(photoshop). I was discussing with another teacher how our elective classes are different than solids in that we don't have a "set" curriculum, but instead do as much as we can so that the students learn and experience as much as they can. Some years we go fast, other years are slow... at least so far! I think I'm going to aim for a week before Spring Break. That would be pretty manageable and wouldn't blow all the rest of my days that I have saved up. Thanks for the reply - btw, I looked at your page here... it looks like you are making great progress! Cool for you! Thanks again, gene
