Topic: RE: Just got Approval... what about letting work know???
SInce you don't say what you teach, let me generalize. If I had surgery now with my grades (K-8) There is no way I could go back as soon as I did. I would do it during the summer just to be able to take the summer off. PLus the kids will really notice the difference. Of course when I taught college I could sit more and lecture and not be as active. I would have everything ready for your principal - the date a sub lesson plans etc
Just some ramblings
Topic: Are you enjoying your time off?
I have been shopping for Christmas decorations and wrapping paper for next year and enjoying getting them for half off. It's also great to be home to get those things done that I have been putting off for weeks or months. I hope you all enjoy your time off as it will be gone before we know it. Pamper yourself and relax

Hi Diane!
Thanks for your reply - I'm thinkin' that Spring Break will be a good option... although it might work out better logistically to do it like a week before so I can have my classes working on somethhing where the sub doesn't have to know too much... we don't have very good luck with subs most of the time.
I'm going to call UCLA today and ask about stuff... if I can actually reach a real human being!

Topic: Recovering from plastic surgery
I hope all of my fellow teachers are enjoying the Christmas break. I think it's funny that all the kids think that Christmas break is for them. When it is really us who needs it by Dec. I hope each of you are well. I am recovering from having a revision of my tummy tuck on Thursday Dec. 23. I have the post dropsy. I felt very well the first couple of days. But, yesterday and today have had the blahs. I will be off work the first week of Jan. But, I'm hopping that I might not have to be off the whole week.
I would appreciate that any of you who pray, remember me as I recover.
Thanks! Diane
Topic: RE: Question
I ate a little of everything for Christmas. I even had the filling of a very small slice of pie. I don't recommend everybody try this. I am 21/2 years out. I didn't eat any sweets the first 18months. Then started by breaking small bites off peanut butter fudge. I read on one of the post that the food wasn't the important thing. That person was right. I find I eat slowly and enjoy the conversation around me. But, I still enjoy the food too. It just isn't important anymore.

Glad to meet you too. Hang in there the weight will come off eventhough it may be slow. I thought I would never make it to 200lbs. I would go to 201 then bounce to 203. Then one morning, I was at 198.
I had a revision of my tummy tuck on Thursday and am recovering. i felt fine the first two days but have not felt as well yesterday and today. I think it is just wanting the drainage tube out. Hopefully in a day or two it will come out. Diane

WOW WOMAN!! 239 pounds lost!! I am so happy for you.
I started at 340 last April; I am now 7 months post op and minus 108.
I hope to make it to 200 by my one year anniversary. Then the rest will be up to me working hard. I would love to be down to 155, but even 170 would be wonderful. Glad to meet you.

Christie,
I just found the board today. Thanks for leading me here. Yes, it looks like you are going to have to get it jump started. I'm here with ya honey. If we are more active here, I think more teachers will crawl out of the woodwork also.

Gene,
I was so excited about my surgery, that I told everyone myself. My date was the last day of school in May, so my principal didn't have to be concerned. I wouldn't involve your principal until you had a date, unless you know that he/she would be happy for you. You know his/her first question will be, "WHEN?"
If I were you, I would try to schedule it during Spring Break. That way you wouldn't have to worry about missing too many school days. I wish I had done it during Spring Break, I would have enjoyed the summer break even more. Good Luck and keep us posted.
