Hi, I teach the hormonally insane at a middle school. Last year it was ESL 6-8th, LA, Creative Writing, and a TAKS reading test. I feel the belief that a summer off is a bad joke, since I have had three weeks of staff development on my own time this summer, school starts for teachers on Aug. 3rd and for students Aug 15th. Right now I am in limbo...I was one of the last teachers hired at my campus. They have eliminated an ESL/LA slot, and I am going into the teacher name pool. :-( If I do not get transferred to another school in the district, then my original campus will give me classes. I am trying to take it in stride though. My daughter and sil have been trying to get me to move to middle TN for several years, and next summer might be the time I do it. I don't know when my surgery will be but the Dr. said he will try to work it out so that when the kids go to school, I can go back to school. Actually I don't want to miss any staff development. That will cost me all my sick days. Leslie

Hi, I'm a music teacher in Minnetonka, MN. I check this board occasionally, but there is usually nothing new. My family moved up here about a year ago, and I've just been reserve-teaching since then. (subbing) I don't think I want to go back into fulltime teaching again. Looking at some other alternatives. Trouble is, I like having the summers and extended holidays. It does spoil us!

Hello Robyn, Great to hear from you. I will keep you in my prayers for your surgery. My school got out May 25. We start our next year August 15 for the teachers and the 22 for the students. I was born in northern California. I have been in Nebraska for 24 years now. I teach in South Dakota. Hugs, Cathy

Marcia, No problem. If you need to vent just go right ahead. I will help you all that I can. I know how you feel. My job has several problems. Just when I say I have had enough I get another offer to make things just alittle better. So I stick it out to see what happens and it doesn't change. Oh well, I will see what this next year brings. Hello, Looks like this board has been slow. I just stopped by to see if anyone was here. I'm a special education teacher in middle school on the Pine Ridge Reservation. I have 37 students in both inclusion and pull-out services. I have 5th thru 8th. What do you teach? Cathy N
