Topic: Starting a business, tax write offs?
Anyone happen to know...I am starting a wonderful singing telegram business and was wondering if I get a breast augmentation, tummy tuck and thigh lift (partially for the roles I will be playing such as Marilyn Monroe and Mae West) is there any way to write the cosmetic surgery off as a business expense? Also, looking for good costumes if anyone has connections or ideas. Thanks a bunch! Miss Molly

Topic: RE: Broadway theatre seats for obese folks?
I used to live in NYC (and was a professional performer for a while) and my recollection is that the orchestra seats are the largest.
I don't think you would want balcony.
In some cir****tances you could be seated in the handicapped area on a free-standing chair -- depends on the venue.
Right now I work at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC.
We have special Suites with larger seats.
They are pricey, however...

Hello,
I am headed to NYC next week and I am trying to decide between On Golden Pond with James Earl Jones at the Cort theatre or 12 Angry men at the American Airlines theatre. I am really concerned about fitting in the seats. Any suggestions? Anyone have any experiences with these theatres? I am also going to the Belasco theatre.

Topic: RE: HEY!!!!! I KNOW there are more actors out there!!!!!!!
Hi Debbie,
I directed the Female version of "the odd couple" twice. Just love that show.
I've been a director, actor, singer in community & regional theater for 15 years.
Having the surgery I know will change my life in many ways. People can't help looking at you and thinking, "oh, big girl, lets cast her as the 2nd bananna or the mom." I'm 35 for goodness sakes!!!

Do yourself a favor...read "Odd Couple - Female!" I think you'll like it. I'm not surprised it didn't come off at the college level. You need older actresses to really get the "maturity" of the humor right!
Yup...I watch the SB for the commercials, too! The one that made me laugh the most so far...the MC Hammer commerical. The one I like the best...the Anheiser Busch salute to service people in the airport.
I like the OH magazine, but don't subcribe, myself. My surgeon does, and I usually read it when I'm in his office! (I'm cheap!)

Phantom of the Opera!! Movie? Play? What did you love? What did you hate?
I've seen POTO five times in the theatre and finally went to the movie. Still love the music. Was disappointed in the singing voice of Gerard Butler as The Phantom. Was pleasantly surprised at the young "Christine"...um...actress was Emmy Rossum, I believe?!
I just love the story, the intrigue, the special effect (at the theatre) and the whole feeling of be "enveloped" by the Phantom!
Whaddaya think?

I hadn't checked the Theatre board in a couple of months! Glad to see people posting! I'll have to come back here a lot more often!
My high school troupe finished "Much Ado About Nothing" in December. We're gearing up for a student-directed (OK....I get to direct ONE of them) One Act Festival for May/June.
I LOVE teaching theatre! Am building the program at a small central California school (right now I also have to teach Business along with Theatre!! Now THERE'S a left brain/right brain fight every day of my life!)
Glad to meet'cha!

We will be doing the female versiond of "ODD COUPLE" this year at BCT....I have to admit that one of the WORST plays I have ever seen was this play....about 10 years ago at a college somewhere in Colorado (we were traveling) BUT I have been thinking about auditioning ....I am hoping my surgery will be over and I will be on the losing side by then,.
I am glad to hear from you actors .....
Well must clean my kitchen..say..do any of you subscribe to the magizine that I see advertised on the site? How do you like it?

I teach theatre arts at the high school level, and act in community theatre (mostly only in the summer, since I'm working with the kids the rest of the year!). LOVE theatre...RARELY watch movies...live theatre is "where it's at!"
Last acted in "The Odd Couple -- Female Version" at my all-time high weight of 236. Played "Olive"...the female Oscar. Loved it! Now I'm at 165...will be interesting to see if I get different parts this summer!
