HI Amy, wow , what did you sing in NY? My 18 year old daughter is currently in NY at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. she is really better suited for broadway as her singing voice is great. unfortunately she prefers standard theater over musical theater. I am hoping that changes in the next few years as she gets a bit mroe mature. we coudl sure use you here in Memphis as we are always looking for good directors. we are doing a readers theater version of inherit the wind in may, and 12 angry men in june and zombie prom in july, now I just have to figure out how to pay for those productions(g). have a great day.

well I will chime in. I am on the board of our local community theatre, we staretd is 5 years ago and still run on a shoestring. it is so hard anymore to get the community to support theatre especially in the South. Now my daughter on the other hand is the actress. she is 18 and currently enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NY. can we say I was opposed to it as I have always been in favor of a degree first. But as we can see she is still in NY doing what she hopes will get her into acting. Yes she is very talented but so are a great many people and the odds are stacked against her, But when I stop and thnk hard on my life it is always the things I did not do or did nto try that I regret, never the things that I did do. So we sent her off to explore her dreams with great hope and expectation, if she fails or falls flat well there is always time for something else. As for our small community theatre we will be producing a readers theatre of Inherit the wind in may, and that will be followed by a production of 12 angry men. our summer musical will be zombie prom. now I just have to figure out how we are going to be able to afford all that. by the way its nice to see felow thespians on here. have a great day.

As I mentioned, I coach forensics. I need the names of some good children's stories that I can have kids do. I have one kid doing a Junie B JOnes, and I tried to get another to do Julius is the baby of the world. She is still undecided. Any ideas?

I am in southwest Virginia. I miss doing theatre. I do coach forensics now and I am loving that. Every year I look forward to and dread dealing with artistic temperments. I used to do this professionally, but found a love for teaching instead.

Sooooooo lets talk about WLS and theatre!!!!! I guess I will start!!! Well I am a 2nd generation community theatre addict....I have to say that in school even "Thin" I always got the charector roles..the mothers, the crazy women, you know the parts, so it was no big deal when I put on weight that I continued with those roles.....and I do like them....I JUST WANT TO DO THEM THINNER!!!!!!So it will be a nice perk after the surgery.....mainly I want to be healther, I all ready work out 3 days a week and I walk.....but I have a really tough time taking off weight. I have one grandchild and one on the way and I want to be around to watch them grow and hopefully see their children!! PLUS so many other things.....tie my shoes by BENDING over, garden with more ease.....RUN a little....oh dear, I hear the footsteps of a 3 year old grand daughter runnig down the hall..must go....... SOOOOO come on you fellow "CAST MEMBERS" lets talk!!!!

Sung to "I'm Getting Married in the Morning".... I'm going to the Surgeon on Tuesday, fuss, fuss, I'm nervous as can be, no reason to be, he's only there to help me, I just can't miss that big ferry!!!! Whew, Yup Tuesday I meet with the surgeon it is the first step and I am a lttle nervous.....oh and you have to take a Ferry across the Puget Sound to get to Seattle from Poulsbo...... Sure was nice to hear from guys!!!! I am soooooo happy that there are other actors and directors and all on this board. Happy to say my Kids production went off well but I got turned down to direct a WONDERFUL THRILLER at my local theatre. They thought it too much of a THRILLER. I guess they are afraid of killing off the audience...being their average age is 74..really!!!! The theatre is 60 years old this year and the patrons have been here nearly that long!!! Oh we have some younger....but.... So talk to me....tell me about what the heck you eat now! I understand about the protein drinks...but what else? I mean I have been reading the site like crazy but it is sooooo big......I think it said no to milk but how about SOYMILK, coffee? Any hints to remember when I go to the Doc? They are sending me a packet to fill out and bring back with me. SAY.tell me just where do you live????Do your theatres have websites? Mine is www.bremertoncommunitytheatre.org. Click on pictures and go to Farnsdale and there I am the BIGGEST ONE!!!! Hope to hear from you soon Linda

I'm glad we got the ball rolling with this message board. Hope it keeps going. I'm scheduled to have my surgery 1/25 and I'm so excited. I sang professionally for many years in NYC & now I do community & regional theater. I've always played the 2nd bannana (the chubby roles). I've always loved those roles. I do hope that changes, there are great leading women roles for altos (& thin). I get a lot of respect when I direct. I guess having the control & putting on good theater matters more than size. I've directed over 10 shows & still continue to do so. The theater gossip is a buzz now & I haven't even had the surgery yet. For what people have told me, you really know who you're friends are when you have this surgery & don't treat you so differently. Thanks for keeping this going, Amy
