Ok.... so I havent had the surgery and want to start the preparation of things to have on hand to drink afterwards. I am real interested in the new whey bullets, 42 grams of protein in 3 ounces ! That would be a real protein boost. What drinks have you tried and what is best in taste but also ability to get enough of it in to increase protein to favorable amounts ?

It really depends on whether you want already prepared, (RTD ready to drink) or powder. My favorite vanilla is Elite vanilla... its protein powder. I also like Elite Butter toffee but Kym says she does not like it at all... its a powder... Ready to drink- I love cappuccino flavor AchievOne. Now you may not like any of these things right after surgery... You could get some samples from friends, saved in a baggy, and try after surgery... I wouldn't buy a bunch of stuff that you might not like.. You can taste them now but you might not want them later. You probably would get great use out of the 42 g in 3 oz because its such a small amount of liquid to drink incase you hate the taste... But surgery changes your taste.. My roommate liked Isopure prior to surgery and bought a gob of bottles... only to find that after surgery, they made him nauseous. He could not stand them... tasted terrible, etc. Are you able to come to our protein party Saturday?

My husband and I have tried the IDS Liquid protein 42 grams in 3 ounces. I couldn't stand them at all. It was like a thick liquid cough syrup. My husband liked both the grape and tropical punch flavors. I have a lady in our support group that also likes them, she pours them over ice and says they taste like kool-aid. Our doctors office warned to only drink about one ounce three times a day because you couldn't absorb all of the protein at once. The cheapest place I found them I believe was fitness-connection.com. I still like the mint chocolate that they have at GNC the best!!

Lisa, The New whey 42 gram bullets are wonderful. I drink half in the morning and half in the evening, because you only absorb 30 grams at a time, that is why I split it. It is so nice, because it is only about two or three sips and you have it down. I only wish that I had discovered them earlier on after my surgery, because I llived on Isopure for so long due to nausea that if I had these, then I could drink other liquids that I prefered and know that I was getting in enough protein. You could do two a day and split it into four seperate units. Shelia

I have a couple of the Protein Bullets at home but haven't tried them yet! Either way, you can only take 1/2 of the 42 gram at one time since you can't absorb that much protein at one time. I have been meaning to try them (just worried about the taste I guess!) You can get them at the VitaminShoppe. You can get a variety pack of powders in different flavors and brands (like 15 single packets) from bariatriceating.com. It is called the "sample packet" or something. My only suggestion is to not try them prior to surgery. It will not matter what you like pre surgery. I guarantee you will think differently after surgery. But just get it so you can have it to try after surgery and then decide which you like better. A lot of people live by the AchieveOne coffee drinks if you like coffee. I never did get into any liquid protein. Shame on me! I have been using the Power Crunch Bars since I am now out from surgery far enough. They are WONDERFUL. I am going to the protein party this Saturday to see if I can find a better way for protein liquids! Good luck in your hunt and remeber not to stock up pre surgery because you really are not sure what it will taste like to you afterwards. I didn't believe people when they said that but it is true.
