Hi all its Annrenee,

Annrenee
Hi Annrenee! Your surgery date is fast approaching. Really exciting. Isn't it Tuesday? are you having to do a liquid diet for a few days before surgery? Have you started that? As far as your question, Yes, I think most of us had some sort of obesity realted illness or pains pre surgery. My major concerns were diabetes and sleep apnea (but there were other issues like GERD, Sciatica, and IBS - which isn't "curable" with the surgery). The surgery has resolved most of these. I have not had to take any medicine since my surgery date for my diabetes. I no longer use a CPAP machine for Sleep apnea and I do not have GERD anymore. I do still struggle with IBS and I do still notice some back pain/sciatica at times (especially after exercising heavily) but it has much improved. I truly believe this surgery saved my life - or at least will allow me to live a longer healthier life. I will pray that you have a healthy and speedy recovery from your surgery. Let us know how you are doing.
Misty
Misty,
Thank you so much I will let hubby know and you also put me at ease I have all that and more the only thing I do not have is HIGH blood pressure. Yes my surgery is tue. I have a slow gut so sat. I will watch what I eat and sunday soft foods and monday clear liquids and bowel prep, unless you have a better idea of what i should do. Surgery is at 730 am. I don't want to take any chances of not being cleaned out. They also told me not to take any diabetes meds monday.the IBS i have is with constipation grrrrrrrr I have been taking pills to sofen me up and the last 2 days I have been going in the am so I pray I am doing this right dont want anything to screw this up. My hubby wanted me to gowith banding but I just know in my heart that the RYN is what I need to do. He is scared of losing me and is being supported.
With the GERD will i stop taking Aciphex I take it 2 times aday. they said it cantbe crushed up. I hope to come off all my meds soon.
Annrenee
I have no idea what fms or cfs are.
The health problems I had pre-op were:
Diabetes - 3 oral meds - came home from hosp off all medication, latest A1c 5.3
high cholesterol - came off medication at 6 months post-op, latest HDL 68, LDL 82, triglicerides normal
Intracranial Hypertension (AKA pseudotumor cerebri) - reduced medication from 1000mg per day to 250 mg per day
GERD - gone!
joint pain - gone!
incontinence - gone!
shortness of breath - gone!
sleep apnea - gone!
depression - came off medication 2 months ago
IBS - greatly improved!
I have had no problems post-op and feel 40 years younger!
Good luck! Is hubby going to update us following your surgery?

hubby on here to up date lol im not surebut we will see
Hi annrenee
I had sever high blood pressure. I was on 250 mg of blood pressure medication daily , that was the main reason for my surgery, heart disease runs in my family and if i didn't do something i knew i would end up with a stroke or heart attack. Almost three months most op and i am off all meds and my blood pressure problem is gone! Good luck
Nicole
Annrenee,
I will list my conditions and explain how I am doing with them post op.
CFS-Better, I do tend to sleep okay, I have trouble going to sleep and sleep for about 4 hours at a tiime. Before I would sleep 1 maybe 2 hours w/o waking.
Diabetes-Diet contolled, have some bottom outs now. Not a lot but occassionally. Before -4 shots, 2000mg of Glucophage and fasting blood sugars were still 200+.
Hypothyroidism-take 200mcg of synthriod daily. Before I had to take 4 synthroid a day because they did not make a high enough dose.
Osteoarthritis-now occassional joint pain other than left knee hurts all the time (no cartilage left in it-knee replacement soon). Before-had trouble walking, sitting, laying, bending, etc (you get the picture.)
HBP-now, 118-128/70 for quite a while. Before-160/100-110.
Seems like i am leaving something out but can't think of it. The Fibro has not really gotten any better as far as gauging the good/bad days, but w/o the weight the joints don't hurt as bad.
Hope this is what you & your dh were wanting.
Thanks
Darlene
