In one way I am happy that I'm starting my 2 week liquid diet, but in other ways I am scared.  I'm worried about will-power I wouldn't be this fat if I had will-power in the first place.  If I get whinny please someone smack me!!! Angie

You are not alone Angie. I had a hard time with my liquid diet and I only had to do it for 8 days. It is very hard when you still have normal size stomach. Take it a day at a time. You will do great!!

You just have to keep focusing on the final outcome.  When you look back on it all, this 2 week period will be such a small part in the whole process.  Just keep remembering that you are goin to be on the losing side.  Hugz to you.  YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Hi Angie! I didn't realize you had a surgery date. When is it? I had to do it for 8 days. I do not think anyone will be able to tell you that it was easy because they would be LYING!! However, you can do it. Just keep thinking about why you are doing it and how much better you will be after surgery and losing weight. You will not want to do anything to make it harder for you to have the surgery (especialyl lap) because the diet is normally to reduce your liver size so they do not have to do open surgery. Just keep thinking to yourself that it will be worth it in the end. You can do it. I drunk a WHOLE lot and I slept a lot too. Try to do stuff to keep your mind off of it. But do not do too much and get dizzy or anything. Make sure you take it easy. Good luck.

You're not being whiny.  It was tough but we all did it.  The good news is it will kick start your weight loss from the surgery and you'll be doing practically the same thing after the surgery but you'll never be hungry ....well at least for a very long time.   You can do it.  Praying for the surgery to be free of all complications.

I'm with Misty here. No it's not going to be easy...but.. YOU CAN DO IT! You are trying to get yourself (and your liver) in good shape before you go into surgery. You want as little swelling as possible before and after and this will help. You want that liver working well and not end up with cirosis from a fatty overworked liver. You can do it!

Just take it one day at a time. You can do anything for one day. Every morning tell yourself that for that one day you will work at staying true to the liquid diet rules. Before you know it your surgery date will be here. I know you can do this! Susan

That's just it I don't even have a surgery date yet.  My PCP has informed me that at my weight right now (She thankfully didn't write it down on the charts!) that I haven't lost the 10% of my body weight and therefore if she turns it into the insurance they will deign my claim right off because I don't meet that requirement, even if I do all of the other requirements.  However, she has given me 1 month to lose up to 20lbs, and a strict diet plan that goes along with it.  The first 2 weeks is nothing but liquid diet, I can drink "ANYTHING" EXCEPT (I love how they put that) high sugar, high sodium, high carbo's, high fat, ext... all the calories I get a day are 800 no more and 40 to 60 grams of protein a day.  So basically I'm going to be doing the first 2 weeks like I would if I had the surgery except I can drink more.  After 2 weeks of doing that I go in and she'll weigh me and then she'll give me the next part of the program which she said wont be that bad because I'll actually be able to eat solid foods she mentioned like 1 smart ones meal a day and the other from liquid.  The whole reason I have to do this is to show HER that I am willing to lose the weight and do it the right way and she also wants to make sure that when she writes the letter to the insurance company that she can do so with a clear mind and know that she's doing the right thing but the main reason is that I have to have 10% of my body weigh off and keep it off for 3 months prior to the insurance authorization.  She is the NEW PCP that I just started going too she doesn't have all of my medical records yet, but she is in the process of getting them.  I already had a letter from Dr. Mehta but since he no longer takes the new insurance that they put me on I had to get a new PCP doctor and with a new doctor the new insurance wants a new letter.  Anyways I have to do this I can't fail at it because at my weight right now I've only got high blood pressure and weight related osteoarthritis (I hurt so much in my back, knees, and ankles) and I've been told that if I get fatter then I'll probably end up with major heart issues because of Marfan's Syndrome that affects my vision will most likely start to affect my aorta.  It's heritary and it's why I'm legally blind and nothing can be done about it because the optic nerve runs clear threw the middle of the brain and the doctors aren't that high tech.  Also I have to keep the weight that I lose OFF so no bingeing after I lose all the weight I'll have to keep the pounds off for 3 months (MORE because I don't want to regain!!)  So this diet will also reprosent a 3 month doctor supervised diet plan in which the patient has lost and keep off 10% of their total body weight. That's how it's written on the insurance requirements.   I just have always done the rollercoster thing, I do good on diets but the first or second time I cheat the diet is all over.  So then I eat and put back on all the weight that I lost plus way more. OH believe me I'm going to be whinny because I'm already missing my food of choice, sausage and biscutes and most of all my CHIPS... I could eat a whole bag of chips as a meal and have done so many times.  Then again that got me where I am now and I don't like where I am now soooo BYE BYE CHIPS!!!! lol I just gotta keep telling myself that! Thanks all for the support I am going to need it! HUGS Angie
