I'm new here and totally lost!

Hi!  I've been interested in having the lap band surgery.  I've been doing some research and have decided that it would be a good choice for me.  I was told that the cost was $14,000 to $18,000.  Does anyone know if that is just the doctors cost or does that cover the whole procedure for everything? My insurance does not cover any weight loss surgeries so I'm going to have to get a loan and I want to make sure I get the amount I need.   We don't want any extra surprises later on down the road. I have tried everything to loose weight and I am bigger than ever.  I have been dieting since I was in high school.  I'm a mother of four and I need to do something so I can be around for my kids as long as I can. If anyone could help me or tell me where I can find the information I need I would really appreciate it.  Thanks so much!

Go to this website http:// www.cmcwls.com and check it out, they also offer FREE seminars that tell you all about Lap Band the costs, and they even tell you how to go about getting loans to pay for it.  Their cost for all was $14,000.00 total included doctor and hospital all that combined was $14,000.00 or you can call them and they will MAIL you out their pamphlet information and you can read up on theirs.  Just something to look into. Hey!  Welcome!  I am almost 1 month out from my surgery.  I went to cmc also. The consultation fee was $205 (on the day you meet the surgeon and schedule surgery) 14,400 paid for the hospital stay, ansthesia, and the surgeon's fee I will have to pay between $125 - $250 for fills  If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me!

Hi Becki. Welcome to the TN board. My understanding is that is the entire cost including the surgeons fee but of course only your specific hospital/surgeon can give you a more exact number. I know Vanderbilt usually refers people to the website http://www.p-f-s.com/ for people who are self pay and want to do a medical loan - which works a little different than a regualr loan. Whatever you decide, I wanted to welcome you to board and you wish you success in your weight loss. Keep us updated on how you are doing.
