Hello Missy,    I am a new member, just signed up today!!!! I am so sorry for your hear of your recent losses, my deepest sympathy to you.  I had my surgery July 9, one day before you!!  I was doing great for two weeks, UNTIL.... these past two weeks I have lived off of ice chips and maybe one jello a day. I am unable to swallow, thus no vitamins for me!!! I just gag. My doctor stresses the protein drinks Isopure, I have tried and tried everything and can not keep anything down, a side effect of surgery he saids. I was hospitalized last week for two days to get fluids into me.   Believe me I know what you mean about being weak, sometimes I can;t put one foot in front of the other just to walk. I am very frustrated! you mentioned protein shooters and I have not heard of those, can you share more information on these?  Thanks. I would love to meet everyone this Saturday but I am just too weak to drive long distances right now. Of course the heat does not help, like you the only exercise I get is swimming, and I am just too weak to get to the pool most days. I hope that you all have these lunch and meets often, so I might get to attend the next one. Thanks so much for letting me share and vent a little. Paula

Hey Freddie,   You are so sweet!  I live in Ashland City. Right now I am suffering from nausea so bad that smells make me gag. I would be so embarassed to be sick during you guys fun lunch!!!    I noticed Dr. Spaw was your surgeon, mine was McDowell with the same group. Whwn did you have your surgery?  You sound like you are doing great!!! Thanks again Paula

It may actually be the Isopure making you nauseated.  The protein shooters you've heard about are New Whey Bullets. They are 3 oz tubes with either 25 or 42 grams of protein each. They taste kind of like unset jello. They let you get a good dose of protein in just a few sips. They come in orange, grape, fruit punch and blue raspberry flavors. The 42 gram bullets have a very intense taste so some people puree 1/2 a bullet with ice and water to make a slushy. Or, mix it with Crystal Light. Since we can't absorb 42 grams of protein at one sitting, you would need to divide the stronger bullet into 2 servings. That means in about 3 sips, you could get 21 grams of protein. You can get these at The Vitamin Shoppe and at It's All Sugar Free. It's All Sugar Free is a store located in Antioch on Murfreesboro Road near Bell Rd/Anderson Rd. There are so many options for liquid protein, there is bound to be something you like. What have you tried so far?

Hi Paula and welcome to the TN  board. I know what you mean about the weakness. I was so weak for the first 5-6 weeks after my surgery. I hated it. I would be shaking like crazy just to take a shower and wash my hair. Eventually I got my strength back asI moved over to soft foods. Hang in there. Are you keeping anything down? If not, then you really need to call your Dr. There may be something else going on. It is very important to make sure you are getting in all of your fluids if nothing else. So, if you can not even tolerate drinking water/fluids I would recommend you call and let your Dr know. Also, have you tried the chewable multi vitamins (liek Flinstones) or I think they even have liquid multi vitmains. I hope you get over this slump really soon.

Hi, Missy,   Just now reading this post. Sorry about your aunt & grandmother. But, congrats on the 39 lbs. that is great.

I can't remember right now what your story was but I think I remember it was a lot of how I feel. Not the divorce thing. Thank goodness I haven't had to go through that. A lot of times I wonder why my hubby wants to be with me the way I have let my weight go. We are/were overweight for one reason or another. That person shouldn't have put guilt on you that you don't deserve. Anyway you have a lot of friends here.    Wish I were closer to join you girls Sat. I know meeting each other makes this all seem more real. Have a great time.

Ellen

Missy, I am sorry to hear about your Aunt and Grandmother.  It is very hard to lose some one, been there done that!  Anyway, know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.  If you need anything, please ask! As far as the mystery poster, I would hope they are not male...that kind of gives the rest of us guys a bad rep!  Just kidding!  your story was so inspiring to all of us.  Someone earlier said it best..."If you inspire one person, then it was worth it"!   Not only was your story inspiring, your smiling face is a blessing!  It's nice to be able to put a face with the stories! See you on Saturday!  It's All Good
