Hello everyone, I know it's been a while since I've posted but I just wanted to let you guys and gals know that I'm still hanging tight. I am currently on a 6 month diet and have lost a little over 27 pounds in 4 1/2-5 months. September 9th will mark the end of month 5 for me. I know losing some weight before will make things a lot easier for me but I gotta say I'm still looking forward to my surgery without any regrets about my decision. I'm actually very happy about it. I've learned a lot about my eating and fluid intake habits along the way. Just thought I'd
let you all know what's going on in my world, which is also your world as well.
Will be weighing in again either this week or next week and will let you all know how it goes. BTW has anyone been watching Big Medicine on TLC? I may be late asking the question but just wanted to know.

Diane

You are doing excellent with your weight loss!!! I didn't have to do the 6 month supervised weight loss but I had to lose 10% of my weight which was 36 pounds for me. I have to say it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. So I know what you are going through. Just hang in there and lose as much as you can and get as healthy as you can before surgery. As far as learning about how you should eat and drink, the people on these boards are sooo very helpful. If you get an opportunity please attend a luncheon. They have helped me tremendously to actually sit and watch how post ops of all stages eat.

I wish you the best with your weight loss and insurance approval.

Hello Melissa,

Thank you!!!  I'm trying to lose as much as I can but I know while waiting for surgery I will still be losing weight. It is tough at first and then you get used to it. I'm thinking about life after surgery and I know that I will have to adhere to that lifestyle so I'm taking advantage of the practice now. I know it's helping me instead of hurting me and I am very appreciative of that. So...........no complaints from me at all. Thank you again!

Hi Diane! wondering where you have been. WOW, you are doing great on your diet. I had to do the six month diet too and only lost like 8 pounds but I wasa big time slacker because I was upset about having to do that in the first place. So, I am glad you are sticking to it and doing so great. In no time you will be able to submit for insurance approval and have surgery.  I just started watching Big Medicine last week. It is really interesting especially since the first episode was of the guy who "quit" the surgeons. I wonder if this weeks episode gave an update on him.  I haven't seen this weeks episode yet but I have it on Tivo so I will watch it in the next couple of days. Oh yeah,  Like Melissa said, if you ever can make it to the monthly luncheon do come! Of course, if you want to know how post-op people eat, then don't sit next to me! hahaha. Ever since my one year surgiversary two months ago, I feel like I CAN EAT! And i do. I feel like I can eat a whole lot more these days. Talk to you soon!

Hey Misty!

I'm on my typical rollercoaster ride. I've always lost about this amount of weight on any and all diets that I've ever been on so it's really not too surprising to me. I began to appreciate the diet because my blood glucose levels and my liver enzymes were elevated this year during my physical. I'm hoping things have changed at least some. I will be heading to the doctor in the morning and I have this strange feeling that she is going to order labs, she normally does.

I have Medicare so I hope things go smoother since I am meeting their last requirement.

Don't worry about the being able to eat thing.....LOL  I have a cousin that has had WLS as well and he's been eating more as well, but he still looks good, but he's doing some things that he was told not to do too so I keep a keen eye on him whenever I see him.

The luncheon sounds great, it would be real nice to meet some of the OH family.

As for Big Medicine I think that guy did go back to big D. He finally had his surgery and had lost a fair amount of weight but big D did want him to go back on the liquid diet for a week or so but he didn't feel like he could tolerate it again, so we'll see how he turns out. I do hope the best for him as I do with us all. Good talking to you and will chat later!

Hello Rhonda,

I gotta tell ya' I'm hanging..............lol the best way I know how. And I am so thankful for all of my OH family. It feels great to make an effort and be commended by someone other than just yourself. I really do appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Hi Diane! It's nice to meet you!  You are so correct about losing weight before your surgery.  It is a real education in and of itself!   I LOVE Big Medicine!  I never miss it!  I have been especially interested in the tummy tucks that they show and how they deal with the excess skin in so many ways. Glad to see that you are posting!  You simply must join us at the Lunch Bunch in September!  The first time I went I felt like I would be an outsider but you know what?  These folks are just as wonderful in person as they are on this board.  It's a whole support system!  Love these folks! I'll look forward to following your progress! Freddie
