Did anyone else here eat all their favorite foods before surgery or before their pre op diet? I don't have to do the pre op diet and no cleaning out of the system (yuck) I just have to call and get what time I am suppose to show up and no eating after midnight. So with that said this is what i ate today:

Breakfast Mc Griddle and small Sweet Tea

Lunch: Left over turkey sandwich and chips (big hand full of course)

Dinner: Spaghetti and salad

Desert Chocolate marble cheese cake (OMG) I am going to miss that.

Tomorrow is the last day I have to eat with my old habits not so sure I want to do the last real meal thing because I don't look at it as a death sentence but as the first day of the rest of my life. Whats your take on it?(last meal)

Well my last meal, was steak, baked potato, salad, huge glass of tea. I was so looking forward to it. Once I started it did not appeal to me at all. Back in the day I could have eaten that 4-6 days a week and not think a thing about it, but not anymore. I don't miss it or other things like I thought I would. The old habits are kinda rough, but if you have yourself in the right mine sight you will do fine. The best of luck to you on your journey. Hee, I was on a 2 week pre op diet so my "last" meal was 2 weeks before surgery.  I had a small filet with steamed veggies and an ice tea.  Patio, Q and I than shared a warm cobbler.  After that... it was mostly liquids for me...

I was awful!!!!! I took a week and went to all my favorite resturants and made my favs at home. I think it is normal to do this. Alot of the doctors don't want you to do it but in alot of peoples minds it seem like the natural thing to do because you are thinking you can never eat those things again. After the surgery and a few months you start eating almost normal again You make adjustments to the things you ate before to make them healthy. Like using no sugar and little things like that.

By the way... good luck on your surgery on Thursday. If you need anything give me a call.

Brenda

I set myself a new goal. I can do it! I am going to do it!!!!

I said I would no do the last meal thing.  Yeah right!  I looked at the food on Thanksgiving Day, and proceeded in eating my way into a 7 lb weight gain.  That's OK though, I have already lost a lot of.  My 2 week liquid diet should start right before the TN Forum Christmas Party.  Oh well!

I was really bad about the "last Meal" syndrome. I went to all of my favorite restuarants (olive Garden!!) to say "goodbye". Not that I regret it by any means but now I think  about how silly that was. Because I can still go to all of the places now but just eat more healthier and in moderation. So I guess it was more of a "see you later" meals. So, don't feel bad if you do that. I think a lot of peopl do. Of course, it is always best if you can substain because any weioght you gain, you will have to lose. And when you get down to those last 10 pounds to your goal, you will start remembering what you ate and gained before the surgery that is preventing those last freakin 10 pounds. hahaha.  I pray you will have a healthy and speedy recovery from your surgery.

I had the same diet as Tawny...2 weeks of mostly liquid.  My last meal must not have been very exciting because I don't remember it.  I do remember that I had already started drinking protein lattes every morning (a habit that I have continued.) Also, the morning after my surgery I had a decaf. sugar free, fat free hazelnut latte from the Starbucks at Baptist Hospital.  It was fabulous!  And honestly, I have never enjoyed my food and beverages more than I do now!   Good luck sweet girlie!  You are about to start the most wonderful journey!!! Big smile! Freddie
