Well, when I got home from work yesterday there was a message from the doctor's office that his charge would be another $2960 for the IVC filter and there would also be another hospital charge. I borrowed $20,000 for this and that puts it over the top. I have money in savings but am afraid to use it (and DH would have a fit if I did) and my 401k is hard to get at. I am going to call the doctor and the hospital today to see what we can work out. For my EGD, the hospital gave me a 36% discount for being self pay. Hopefully they will do that again. Do you think that the doctor would do that as well? I'm so upset, been up worrying all night.

My biggest advice..."Put it in God's hands"! I know where you are coming from, especially the worry part. And I realize there is nothing I can say or do that would ease that situation. For me, the money part is the worst! Anyway, All I can do is pray that God gives you "peace that passes all understanding".. We do not know the how or why, we just have to let go and let God have this burden.. I am probably preaching to the choir, but I think you understand! Our prayers are with you!

Have you tried dr mark colquitt Maryville tn you are not to far away, you might want to check his charges, I found he was cheaper and excepted my insurance when dr boyce w2ouldnt, Annrenee

Like Scott said. I would pray about it. Since you have the majority of the money upfront, maybe they will accept that and bill you the remainder and you can make payments on that. I would think that $3000 would not stop them from doing the surgery and getting the other $20,000 but I guess you never know with hospitals. Hang in there nad know that it will happen when it is supposed to. I am praying for you.

I talked to the doctor's office and they won't budge on the price nor will they accept payments. I have a call into CapitalOneHealthcare Finance to see if I can increase my loan and a call into the hospital. The reason that I am going to this particular doctor is because I have to have a revision and he is the most experienced in the state. I am SOOOOO upset. Please keep praying!

Hey Cheryl, No I haven't had my surgery yet...I am changing ins in Jan to a plan that covers Lap Ban...I am, however, in the process of paperwork ...I have my psyc eval Mon...I am getting things in order so come Jan maybe things will be smoothe!! So you liked Dr. Morton? I haven't met him yet but everyone speaks so highly of him...I also understand that he has performed numerous Lap Band surgeries...As a matter of fact a woman I work with has a daughter-in-law that has lost over 100lbs since March with the help of the Lap Band...Dr Morton is her dr and she LOVES him!!! C
