Am I normal?

Okay, so, I'm 6 months out. (YAY!) Lost 42lbs so far, good stuff. I have learned what I can eat and what I can't...etc. But I have this problem that I have no idea if it's normal or not.

Okay, 1 week before my period I want to eat constantly (which, yeah, I'm a girl - it happens) then the entire week of...I'm very indifferent to food. I just find myself staring at it.

Usually, since being banded I average around 800-1000 calories a day. But on the week of...I'm getting in maybe 500, IF I'm lucky.

Why is this? Am I odd?

could probably hormonal related....being pregnant...me and food have lots of issues. There are days where I can't seem to get enough of anything and there are days where I just am like whatever and nibble at my food or sometimes, I just can't find something that is appetizing and know what I should eat but just don't want to.

Socks Maybe we are both normal...  Maybe its just both of us are weird!  haha I have cravings the week before like you do.  Sometimes I grab things that I dont WANT.  They aren't bad things.  Just that I dont want or really need them.  Then the week of, I am constipated.  I also cant eat much.  I get full very easy.  I guess its good that they balance each other out!?

I agree with April, it could be horomones. Around Thanksgiving my hormones ran amuck and I was going through cravings.  I still pushed through them and still religiously measured things out.  I also told myself that if it was something that I knew I shouldn't have that I could get sick. I think that in the back of my mind has kept me from indulging on anything that I shouldn't eat. And I know this will sound strange, but when I was feeling weak, I hit the gym.  For some reason, working out really did help.  Hope this helps.  That's my two cents and sadly, it's probably worth that...lol.

Yeah, it is normal. A week before my periods, I would crave Chocolate (not during, just before). Always - never failed. I do not have the problem about not wanting to eat during my cycles but I do think it is normal because of hormones. I would say as long as you are getting in at least 64 oz of fluid during that time and making sure that when you do feel like eating, you are focusing on protein, you should be fine. I wouldn't force yourself to eat if you can't.  Congrats on your weight loss so far. You are doing good. Keep up the great work.
