That is the safest way, but remember that walking is a great form of toning and strenghing your legs and will help, you will be able to begin weights soon enough, take time to heal first!!!  I know where you are coming from, simply because I really wanted to jump right in too!!!   Good Luck!! That sounds about right. You really just have to listen to your body on what you can and can't do. I know I could barely stand up long enough to take a shower and wash my hair for the 1st 6 weeks without shaking. You have to give yourself time to recouperate and heal and let your body get used to the new habits but you will know when you feel good enough to do it. I think it was closer to 10-12 weeks that I joined the gym and started weights. I primarily walked before then and just rested mostly. Usually after 5-6 weeks, you get more energy because that is when you can transition to soft foods and you are eating agian and regaining your strength. Just make sure when you do start working out, you drink a lot before during and after working out. That is really important at first.

I actually do not know about swimming. I would think you could do that as soon as you felt well enough (even before the 6 weeks). As long as you are not over doing it. Obviosuly, you have to wait about 2-3- weeks until you get any stiches or steristrips removed from your incisions and they are healed before you are immersed in water but I would think swimming is much easier on you than weight training so I believe that would be fine to start earlier. That might be one for the Dr to answer unless someone else on here knows the answer?  It really will all depend on how well you are feeling and your body is recouperating from the surgery.

Personally, I wouldn't for two reasons:         1) Your wounds are still healing and pools can still hold germs          2) Swimming can actually provide you more of a workout than   a lot of other activities and you do not want to pull or damage anything. I sure admire your attitude, but I have to suggest pull back on the reins a little bit, but hold on, because you are about to be in for the ride of your life!!! Horseback Riding Shelia

Hey to all, actually, I am only allow to swim, and they are not allowing me to do that until I go back to the nut. also. Just in case one of my incisions have not healed completely. They don't want me to get into the water other than shower, Not even Bath.  Sorry!!! But I can see why, it actually is for your safety. Hug and love Barb CongradsfanandButterfly.gif
