Hi everyone my name is Angie and I am new to Tenn. I moved here around the end of November from Mississippi. I had RNY on May 2nd 05 and I have lost 182 pounds. I started out at 486 and now I am at 304, form being in 7x clothes to now 3x clothes and 24 size jeans. I am in Ashland City and I am a Surgical Tech student at the High-Tech Institute in Nashville. I was wondering if there were any local support group meetings in the surrounding areas and if so when and where do they meet. I was very active in the support group in Jackson Mississippi. I am in despirate need of finding someone nearby that can relate to my situation... Despirate and Looking Angie Bea

Hi Angie, can't help you out there on support meetings, I just had my surgery and I can't find one in my area unless I drive over an hours drive at night to the hospital that I had my surgery done at. That would be difficult as I can's see well to drive at night. Welcome to TN, and best of luck to you. Kathy

Hi Angie! Welcome to TN. Do you want a support group in Ashland city or in Nashville? I know that Vanderbilt has a support group twice a week. One on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and one on Friday from 11-1. See this website: http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/root/vumc.php?site=bariatric&doc=4522 I believe most of the major hospitals here in nashville have a support group meeting. You don't have to have surgery there to attend. As far as a meeting in Ashland City, I am unsure. You can probably check out the Local resource link on this site to see about a meeting in Ashland City. Congrats on all of your sucess. You have come a long way. Misty

We have a support group that meets the first Saturday of each month near Baptist hospital. The meeting starts at 10:30 and lasts for about an hour. Afterwards several people usually go out to lunch together. The "oldsters" tell us that is how we will learn how to eat post-op. You can go to www.ccfos.com and click on the link to seminars to get directions. We'd love to have you join us. This coming Saturday is the March meeting and one of the surgeons from the surgery clinic I used is going to attend. Susan

Hi Angie, There is a support group that meets once per month at Skyline Medical Center just north of Nashville off I-65 at Dickerson Road. The meetings are the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM.

Vanderbilt has lapband support groups.......to find out the dates and times you would need to get on their site.......Vanderbilt Center for Surgical Weight Loss..........After I am banded next tuesday....I will be attending these meetings.....I think support groups really help...... OOPS...forgot to say they also of course have gastric bypass meetings too.

Hi Angie, I just had my WLS in Dickson, Tn. which is only about 30 mins if that from Ashland City if my calculations are right. I am located in West Tn. and drive 2 1/2 hrs. to Middle Tn. to see my Doc. There is a support group that meets at Horizon Medical Center for the Solutions Weight Loss Program monthly. I have a schelude for the year with dates and times if you are interested in attending a group meeting. I am sure you would be welcomed there as this is a wonderful program and great supportive staff. You can email me if you would like a list of dates and times. Welcome to Tn. hope you like our great state. Regards, Belinda
