plastics consult....
I have a consultation with a plastic surgeon on April 23rd. I dont feel excited about it at all. They said that Cigna was one of the insurances that are famous for not covering PS. I can not afford to have this done with out insurance so I am not going to get my hopes yet.
Plus, I hate having my picture taken with my clothes on
...let alone...
with out them!!!
If you have any suggestions for getting an approval let know know!!
Cathy

Hi Cathy,
I can't offer any plastics advice, unfortunately. I just wanted to give you my support and wish you well. Getting naked in front of any one is a very difficult thing, then add to that having them take pictures of you - yuck, I shudder to think of the nightmares that I would give the photographer
. But you are a beautiful woman, and I applaud you for taking the steps that you think are needed to complete your journey. Good luck!
Hugs,
Robin

Cathy,
Limitations of coverage for plastic surgery are not limited just to your insurance carrier, Cigna. All insurance companies have very specific requirements spelled out which they use for determining eligibility of coverage. The decision is not your plastic surgeons. He merely relates his own opinion and all relavent information to determine qualification. The sad reality is that only a very small minority of patients have these medical symptoms related to there loose skin as a result weight loss. This is why most of the procedures are porformed as cosmetic procedures.
Don't get to discouraged since your still far better off than when you had the extra weight. Even with the loose skin, your health is better, energy is better and overall quality of life is better. As for the pictures, just imagine your surgeon standing there without his clothes on and that should give you a chuckle and get you through the appointment. Good luck to you.
