I have no idea on what I can eat. I am on a soft food diet but everything is making me sick today. I can't have too much salt, I can't go all the way sugar free. I am a mess. I can't eat anymore jello or mash potatoes and I don't even feel like eating. I am starting to go NUTS and the dietician is not available. Does anyone have any suggestions of things they had on the soft diet that might be appealing? Necole

Maybe try some peanut butter or applesauce? Cottage Cheese? refried beans? That's what was on the top of my head and got me through that stage. Christina S

I personally loved pureed cheeseburgers. I just fried up some ground beef (97 percent fat free) then added a slice of fat free cheese on top. It was like eating the real thing and felt more normal. Sometimes with the sugar free the sugar alcohols are killers. I also liked yogurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal, peanut butter, things like that. Keep trying different things til you find something that works. You can make it through this. Courtney

Courtney, The hamburger things sounds absolutely great - thanks for the idea. I can't wait to try it tonight for "Easter" dinner! Julia

Hey Courtney, I did not realize that I could puree regular food. Thanks for the heads up. I just got one of those Harris Teeter roasted chickens and threw some bbq sauce on it and put it in the blender. I also had a couple of spoons of stoffers mac and cheese. Now I feel much better because I thought all I could do was the egg and applesauce thing. My kid drank my Muscle Milk and now she's mad because I made her pay for it out of her money. I have no idea how she even drank that stuff.

My Nut recommends scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, mashed carrots, egg, tuna or chicken chopped in food processor or blender w/mayo, and canned fruits that are drained, rinsed and pureed or mashed. Hope this helps! Jen

Hi Necole, You could just try pureeing "normal" food and eating that - like some chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans etc or go back to just liquids for the day if everything is making you feel sick. You could also try a few crackers, some scrambled eggs with cheese, cottage cheese with yogurt, chili, applesauce etc Hope some of these help you.... Jackie

Hey Necole! Everyone has given you some great ideas but I would say that the most important is to listen to your body. If you don't want to eat, drink your protein. Don't force yourself. Remember, you are now eating to sustain your body, not for enjoyment. If your tummy doesn't want it, don't force it. We don't need to be in the clean plate club anymore . Even now, I have days were I pretty much skip solid food because my tummy just doesn't want it. Good luck! Christine 253/153/158/134

I lived on applesauce, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, and yogurt. Those weeks were the hardest for me. Once I got past that it was much easier. Hang tough !!

Soft food stage huh? UGH! I remember those days...... Here are a few of the things that I ate at that stage..... Refried Beans Yogurt Cottage Cheese Very moist Tuna Salad (canned tuna in water/Fat Free Mayo/Relish - puree) Jello Popcicles (I did not do well with these at all, so I ate one and the rest went to my son) mashed canned peaches (the Carb Control kind) Applesauce Very moist Egg Salad (make sure that you puree the mixture up really well) Very moist shrimp salad Hope this helps, and hang in there!
