Taken the Good and the Bad
I went to the Plastic Surgeon today for more follow up . I did get the last drain out .. that is good , Have minor swelling in left butt cheek .. not so bad ..
The bad news is I have 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my buttocks . How did I do that you ask . Well on my 2nd week home from surgery , I was aching and cold . Alan went and got the rice sock . It is a sock filled with rice .. you put it in the microwave and heat it up .. Well we both felt it and it felt ok not too hot . But it was .. my skin was so numb back there , I could not feel it burning me .
I had the blister looked at last week . Doc burst the blister .. and said all would heal up .. but today it has turned black and is deep .. so if it does not start healing .. he will have to debried it .. another set back .. as until these wounds heal , I cannot get my implants .
Well .. not the end of the world .. I have been through worse .. YA think ?

Oh my gosh, I am sorry you got burned by the rice sock. I had no idea those could cause burns like that (I use one on my shoulder all the time).
Congrats on getting the drains out. Hopefully all will be healed soon and you will be able to get your implants.

Oh My Gosh Natalie --- So sorry bout the burn... can you take antibiotics or some type of vitamin to help the healing process??? At least the drain is out and your still mending!!! As Nancy says -- this too shall pass. We are ALL stronger then we will ever know -- I could tell you the triles I have been thru, all I can say is that you are again being tested and am positive you will pass with flying colors.
God Bless you Natalie - God will never give you more then what you can deal with and he will heal you !

Sorry to read about this, Nat. Just another growing experience, I guess. You are definitely a huge learning resource for us and I appreciate you being so open and honest with us. I just learned that blisters are our "friends". Haha. That is our white blood cells trying to protect us from infection. The medic said not to bust the blister and to pack it with ice and it will go down quickly. Obviously your situation was different, but it was nice to hear the explanation because I always want to pop them instantly. Now they don't bother me. It's the same thing with swelling and bruises. It's just our bodies way of protecting the injured site.
I hope you heal up quickly and properly!!!
Natalie,
Best wishes to you as you continue along. I had plastics last week by Dr. Goldberg, did great, he did not do implants, I still had enough breast tissue. He just removed excess skin and lifted back what I had. I ended up with 36C and am very happy.
I also had arm lift, he removed 8 inches of skin from each arm.
I have had little down time, had this done on the 26th and was back to work on Tuesday.
I know what you mean about the numbness and how a burn could take place.
I was also very happy when the drains came out, had those things in for 7 days.
Good luck to you.

Hey Natalie
How are you feeling and doing these days??/ Hows ya bottom?? I really hate that your having this problem... but please dont kick yourself about the rice bag (we have a corn bag).... my hubby and i were talking about it and we really cannot believe that if you and your hubby both could handle the bag, then is no way it would have given you 2nd and3rd degree burns. Of course I am not a doctor - but is just sounds like the skin did not get its blood supply after your plastics surgery ... then again I am not a doc. PLEASE I am not doubting you at all --- I just want you to NOT blame this on you !!
So tell me how ya doing and mending !
Hugs
Kim
