Man!  I would love to never have a migraine again!  I rarely got them, until I packed on all this weight.....now they're almost a constant!  I wasn't kidding when I said at least 4 days a week I have migraines.   Shoot, while I was at orientation I got a killer one and couldn't leave because I didn't want to miss anything.  Not pretty!

Put that on the list of questions to ask at your consult when the time comes. Or call the office. Pre Op I took Imitrex Nasal Spray for migranes. Go**** works wonderfully. Ask your PCP about it now.  I haven't had a migrane in a long long time but Dr. Mann knew of my Imitrex taking prior.

I have a bad reaction to the pill form of imitrex, I assume I'd have the same reaction to a nasal spray!  But I'm sure there are other forms of spray! Thanks!!

I used to have migraines, which I treated with Excedrin Migraine and diet coke (for the caffeine). I was concerned about what I would do after WLS if I couldn't have asperin, advil, or sodas. I went off of Excedrin and caffeinated beverages 6 days prior to surgery and had "caffeine withdrawal" headaches for several days. But since that time I have not had anthing near a serious headache, and Tylenol took care of that. Post surgery I found that cut pills tasted much better than crushed ones. At my 1 month appt my Nut said I could take pills again, so i no longer cut or crush. Joe

My surgical team all say to crush or chew only but  after finding out that many folks cut them or take them, I waited 8 weeks before attempting anything else. (Sorry Dr. Mann!) As far as crushing, chewing v cutting and taking them, I do a test. I put the pill in a small amt of water, If it dissolves quickly I just take it or cut it depending on the size. Capsules I empty out...I am on Actigall for 6 months.(The liquid form tastes like bile)

I get Migraines about 2-3 times a month. Pre-op I took Imitrex 50mg, but I find that that is too strong now. I now take 25mg and I do well with it. You could also get Imitrex in a nasal spray or in a injection. My doctor started me on pills (vitamins, tylenol and my pain meds) the day that I was released from the hospital. Now every doctor is different and you should listen to your doc, but I would write down all of your questions and e-mail him or take the list to your next appointment. Good luck and get ready for a wild and crazy ride of your life!! Catj
