Hello all,  I am curious for all the readers out there....what have you read this year or are reading now that is grand? Give the title and your opinion if you would. I've been in love with writing and reading all my life and I would very much like to hear your picks and opinions. I am currently reading The Maidenstone Lighthouse by Sally Smith O'Rourke and its a wonderful New England, mystery, love story all wrapped up into the afterlife and its a real page turner for sure. I am drawn to books that can give me mental pictures and illustrate things in "color" and "real" situations that grab my attention. I'm on chapter 23 and its getting better and better with every turn of the page. Previously I read Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son - SK is MY FAVORITE Author of this day and age and Edgar Allan Poe before him) JH's book is great, a real page turner and he is VERY promising. I've read a TON of books this year! After The Maidenstone Lighthouse I'm going to read Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. I LOVE southern works! Do share....

I am always reading something.  In fact, my hubby cannot understand how I can have 2 ot 3 books going at all times, and understand right where I am at in each one.

So...right now, I am reading Success Habits of WLS Patients (something along that line), and a Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown (gotta love that name!)

Both are very good!

Thanks Jill! The first one I've seen and thumbed through. Interesting read in some respects. As for Piece of Cake it is one I will be reading thanks to you. I'm not sure if you know it or not but she's got a web site that is quite insightful. WWW dot cupcakebrown dot com. Thanks again!

I am really lucky that my two favorite authors have new books on the shelves right now....just finished "You Have Been Warned" by James Patterson and "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks.  Books by either of them are wonderful...James Patterson writes great mysteries, and Nicholas Sparks is famous for his romantic books (i.e., Message in a Bottle, The Notebook). Check 'em out!  Cindy

Good pm Cindy - I enjoy Nicholas Sparks' book inspired movies. I've not actually read any of his but "The Choice" plot seems like something I'd enjoy quite a bit. Haven't read any by James Patterson but understand that he's quite good. Thanks a bunch!

I'm just starting Mary, Mary by James Patterson. I read him, Patricia Cornwell, Jeffery Deaver, Tess Gerritsen, Sue Grafton, Janet Evanovich, and Catherine Coulter. So I'll rotate between their latest books. More good books I've read in the past are Smashed: Story of a drunken girlhood by Koren Zailckas, Shes Come Undone by Wally Lamb,  and A Gift To Myself by Charles Whitfield. You can go to my Online Library and look at some of the titles. I have alot of recovery/self help books listed. I need to update it. Good luck!!!

Well I too am a reader.  I love to escape into another world.  Romance, especially period romances are my favorite.  I do a lot of revolving door through the used book store and things that get passed along through friends or family.  Read quite a few this year but nothing that really sticks out. About a month ago I pulled a book off of my sweeties shelf called Fresh Faith.  It is by a minister in Brooklyn.  Very good book and part of a series that I have heard is very good.  The pastor that will be performing ou marriage recommend another book to us the other night when we met with him called the Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman.  I believe that will be my next one so that my sweetie and I can read it together.
