Wasa Crispbread - Do you eat it?
Hi all,
I am searching for something to eat my cheese, meat, and egg/tuna/chicken salad on. I am very carb-careful.
I found Wasa Fiber crispbread has 6 grams of net carbs per slice and I was wondering if that seems high? I used to eat Wasa crispbread as a child when we had Norwegian Au Pairs. I remember liking it quite well with some mild cheese on top. I don't think that I would be able to eat more than one considering 1-2 slices of deli meat fills me up at this point.
Do any of you eat breads or crackers? What type? Any low-carb suggestions? What limits do you impose on how many carbs an item can contain?
Thanks,

You can buy them at your local grocery store. I bought some at Kroger today.
Also, at many specialty health food stores, there are bran crispbreads that you can buy that have even fewer carbs. I am going to make a special trip to a store near me and purchase a package. If they are any good, I will certainly let this board know! :)

Hi there,
I adore the wasa fiber crispbreads, especially with I cant believe its not butter and sf jelly. I also love flax wraps. I cant eat a whole one, so I eat half and then top it with protein and cheese. Very filling. As far as carbs go, when I was in strict weight loss mode, I use to aim for fourty or less, no snacking in between meals, and water, water.

I eat it almost every day, Leigh. This is a staple of the Swedish (and Norwegian) diet, and I am convinced it is part of the reason that Scandinavians are among the longest-lived and healthiest people in the world. It's also the only bread product that Dr Bernstein allows in his diabetic diet, and is even allowed here during the mushy foods phase for WLS patients. There are like 36 calories in a slice, and like you say only 6 grams of carbs, and it is really good with all kinds of toppings - I eat it with tuna and chicken salad, or a bit of cream cheese and a slice of turkey or ham, etc. Another brand that is really good is "Leksands", which you can usually only get at Scandinavian specialty stores, but there are some that you can order from online. For some weird reason, Wasa does not sell the most popular variety in Scandinavia in the U.S.
