What's is Happening to me?

I started back exercising on Monday after 10 days s/p surgery. My doctor said I could exercise but only cardio machines like the treadmill, bike, or crosstrainer.

Monday did 45 minutes on the treadmill at the gym felt fine

Wednesday did 30 minutes on the bike at the gym? Sipped on water the whole time and felt ok. That is until I got up to go and get a paper towel. Suddenly, i felt flushed, started to sweat profusely, heart racing, then felt dizzy. All I could say is please don't let me fall out in front of all these people. I tried to walk but faint, so I set down. WTF, this never happened to me. The nurse in me feels my sugar dropped but why is this happening to me?

Thursday - went to the local track. felt fine walking a steady but not fast pace. Then I had to climb a hill to get back to my car. Heart started to race again, got the same symptoms stated before, got in my car and all of a sudden I am drenched in sweet and feeling dizzy. I sat in the car about 20 minutes before I drove to the store across the street. Even when walking in the store i didn't feel good, felt wiped out. I went to get some juice

has this happened to anyone? Please help

could be low blood pressure.  i have gotten dizzy since the day after surgery.  so far nobody has been able to give me an answer.  i would get the bp checked.  make sure you are drinking extra water as exercising releases water.  also try eating a bit of fruit 30 mins before your work out.  if it only happens when exercising i would guess its just a lack of glycogen.  good luck

I would definetly give it a try be sure to use 100% not from concentrate juice to avoid added sugar.

Are you still on blood pressure meds? Can you check your blood sugars when this happens? It has not happened to me, but hugs to you and I hope it passes soon. Be gentle to yourself!!!!!! You just had surgery recently and you are on a severely restricted diet. Maybe let up a bit for a while until your body adjusts.

I didn't have blood pressure problems prior to surgery except it being a little low but still normal. However, I was taken diuretic for edema. My surgeon had me stop taking it today.

Thanks I will try to take it easy, just so desperate for the wait to come off. If i don't exercise I don't lose weight. well that's how my life was with the band

I am no expert but I am thinking the best thing for you is to wait awhile longer before you start exercising.  Do walk, nice leisurly strolls, a couple a day if you feel well enough but do not overdo it!  It takes a while to recover and for our poor bodies to get used to the lack of food.  You could also be suffering from withdrawel from carbs, that can be nasty.

By all means, sit down if your heart starts to race or you get dizzy...just sit down, even if you feel silly, it's better then falling down!

If you continue to feel badly, call your Dr., sooner rather then later!

thanks for the advice

I spoke with my Dr this morning and she basically said to leave the bike alone for now because it drains you differently from walking.

She also said wherever i feel dizzy to sit down immediately and not try to walk.

I think you are overdoing for such a short time out. I would start off with walking and water exercise. Remember your intake of cals right now is pretty low and you did have surgery just 10 days ago.
