I have no idea what size my new stomach is, and I don't really care.

The size is really not all that important, unless you are not left with enough of a stomach to sustain life.

I won't be asking my doctor what size he uses, it is working and that's all I really care about.

A bougie is a thin tube they use as a guide to create the new banana shaped tiny tummy.  They cut & staple along the greater curvature of the stomach and remove the stretchy part.  All this discussion about what size bougie can be viewed as not too important because surgeons can tighten it by oversewing and or not make it too tight around the bougie to begin with.   Also the variance between a 32f bougie and a 40f bougie is literally 2.3 mm.  That is like a little over 2 of those little tiny notches on the centimeter side of the ruler.  10mm in a centimeter.

In my opinion it matters what we do with the tool, not EXACTLY what size it is.   As long as it is not so small it is dangerous or so large it will stretch.
