ok this is how i did it.  crush the pills.  i used skim plus milk 11 proteins,  with my secure meal shakes 7 proteins, for a total of 18 proteins, i like the pina colada.

here a link: www.securemeal.com/secure/pages/content/home.aspx
they give you 30 free samples. you pay the shipping $7.95

i had lite yogurt.  i had cottage cheese w/ cinnamon & equal.  i tried to make all my choices protein.   i drank broth and tea, ate ice pops, & s/f jello for my water needs.

at first i was eating grits and fruit and pudding, but they make you have cravings and they have no protein in them.

remember protein first, at first your not going to be able to get 50/60 grams in, but you work your way up to that over time.

Hello Mydear,
thank you so much for the food suggestions and the link for the secure meal shakes. I feel like a baby all over again.

First of all you are NOT failing.  As a nurse I am telling you that your first and highest priority is WATER, WATER, WATER!!! You do NOT want to get dehydrated.  You can live without food/nutrition/vitamins for weeks - just think about POW's... but you CAN'T live withou****er/fluids.  You are only 5 days out from surgery and it will take time to build up your intake.  But do NOT get dehydrated - that is your most pressing issue.  The rest will come my dear.  Just sip, sip, sip all day long.   As long as you're making adequate urine you will be fine.  I wish you all the best.  Karen

Howdy Karen,
no I am not failing at all, I meant failing as in going under. I made up a schedule and am concentrating on getting the water in today. It is 7:30 and I am doing good after a good nights rest. I also woke up with minimal pain and that made a HUGE difference.

Thanks

My suggestion is to skip the vitamins - for now.
I struggle with vitamins, too, and I am 4mo out!  They are not fun, and they fill you up.   You certainly don't have room for them right now, especially if you don't have enough room for water and protein.
Some people say tha****er should come first, others say protein.  You don't want to get dehydrated, but if you don't get enough protein, your body can't heal and recover from the hell you just put it through.  Just try to find balance, they are both important.   Right now, vitamins are not.
Good luck!!

Thank you,
well its now a new day and I've put yesterday behind me. I got up at 6am and am currently working on my first 32 oz of water. I've already headed towards beating yesterdays intake. After I finish the first 32 I will concentrate on a little protein.

Thats the plan

Monkey butt?!  Is Monkey butt on your Nut's list?  :)

Like everyone said, it will all come with time.  Fluids is most important.  Isopure in glass bottles is good too.  40 g protein in 20 ounces of fluids....I like Passion Fruit and still use it when I want to back off a little.  When you get to the point that you can take your vitamins, I found Centrum Silver in chewables that are really good and so are the Bariatric Advantage.

Thank you,
I wrote down the Isopure and will try that. I plan to visit the Vitamin Shoppe next week.

Right now evvvvverything is tasting like monkey butt. The term is one that I see used around OH quite a bit...I must admit that it is a good description.

Que,
You are not a failure!!  My advice is just like all the others.  DRINK DRINK water and don't worry about the other stuff.  You are still healing and you will be able to get in the protein before you know it.
