It sounds logical - or does it?

Hi all,

I had my sleeve on June 22nd (7 days ago) and am feeling great. My concern is this. I know that logically I"m on full liquids and should probably not have a bowel movement but I haven't had one in nine days. How long did it take all you post op sleevers to get things moving?

I'm 2 months out, been on solids since day one, and I still only have a BM about once a week.
OTOH, one person commented that their cat eats more than I do so if we're not putting much in, and that bit is getting used up almost totally, there isn't much to come out.

If you do feel constipated, that is why god invented Fleet.

I haven't had surgery yet but I currently only go every Thursday. I don't know why, but I have been like this since grade school. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are having cramping or gas pains.

Just like an RN to be concerned about poop.  (I'm a RN also)  My guess is that if your walking and drink plenty and don't have any symptoms of constipation your good to go.  That said I would like to hear from others.......

Laura:

As a former RN, I can tell you that 9 days is WAY too long.  That's why my program recommends Benefiber, every single day.

Constipation is common with the early stages of the sleeve, and you need to give "mother nature" a bit of help.  I also used stool softeners, and if necessary a mild laxative.

The last thing you need is to have to have impacted fecal material manually dug out!

My doctor said that if I hadn't had one by day four, I was to call them immediately. I didn't need to and every doctor is probably different.

9 days is too long I agree. You should still being have some very loose movements every 4-5 days at least. Know that it does get better and more regular later on. I am am very regualr now but still only 2-3 times a week
