I'm wondering if any of you have ever tried Chia seeds for reflux? I've read that Lori on the DS board uses them and they work well. I'd like to find something other than more and more Nexium.

Supposedly if you eat the seeds dry they will soak up all the acid from the stomach. My only concern is after they absorb fluids they can expand to 12 times their size, I wouldn't want them to stretch my tummy.

When I was expecting my first child, I had terrible heartburn, my doctor told me to go to Whole Foods and buy papaya enzyme pills.  They help in the breakdown of meat and dairy products and have been used for years to help reflux.  They are inexpensive and there is no down side to trying them.  They worked for me, I hope they will work for you.

I haven't had any heartburn or acid issues since my surgery (I know I'm one of the lucky few), but I have a whole jar of chia seeds I bought because they supposedly have many positive effects. I have yet to try them, though!

Maybe just start out with a very small mount and see if they make you feel full by expanding, the work your way up and stop if you feel any discomfort.
