ambien/tylenol pm after surgery
HiI too take ambien. The wouldnt let me take it while in the hospital and I really didnt take it for several days after I came home. My pain meds made me a little sleep so I didnt take it until I started slacking off the pain med. didnt want to over do the meds. LOL! Good luck with your surgery next week.

I get headaches all the time. I bought liquid Tylenol (over the counter) for the 2 weeks after surgery, and after that I've been taking regular Tylenol caplets. Next time I see my surgeon, I'm going to ask him when I can start take Exedrin Migraine again.
I can't answer the Ambien question.
EDIT: Just realized you said Tylenol PM, not Tylenol. Do they have a liquid Benedryl or liquid Tylenol PM?

I use ambien also, I waited about 2 weeks. I really didnt need it when I had my loratab pain med. That stuff knocked me out pretty fast. I used it to fall asleep for a while. I know its not the right purpose but it did the trick. The ambien my doc just told me to crush em, and wow do they hit really fast then. Good luck to you.
I have been using jr strength chewable tylenol...it works for me. They also sell children's benadryl that is chewable or liquid though the liquid is VERY sweet. I have not seen a liquid tylenol pm. After a couple of days of pain pills they told me to take tylenol for any left over pain.
I don't know about ambian, but I take neurotin for a back injury and they told me that I could still take it while in the hospital. I would ask your doc about the ambian.

i use ambien though not every night like i used to. I think it was a couple of weeks after surgery before i used it. frankly, hospital is no place to sleep and when i got home (after 6 hour drive) i slept 12 hours straight.
what was keeping me from sleeping was anxiety and racing thoughts. PCP prescribed clomazapan which is an anti anxiety drug which has a number of uses. i now take it in am and pm. feel much better and usually do not need ambien any more. you might consider if your sleep issues are due to anxiety and consult your doc. i luv my clomazapan. d

I take Ambien and Dr. Aceves gave it to me in the hospital. I know my body is used to it, and I definitely can't sleep without it.Oh to answer the question, I take Ambien every night, or no sleep. I have restless leg syndrome, and sleep disorder disease, so I never sleep. If I did not have a drug to knock me out I would be up for ever!! The longest time with no noticable sleep was 2 weeks!
If you could say wired, there would be a picture in the dictionary when my face next to it!! That is the way I live, it drives everyone nuts! Even when I was fat, I had too much energy. But I feel like I need a drug to sleep, in fact I know I need one.
Good luck!
