Hi I am scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Joya in July. I just wanted to know how was your experience, and pain tolerance.

I talked with the coordinator and I have had surgery in the past and had some issues with pain management. He mentioned something about a stomach calmer or something.

Do they do the same as the U.S?

All the best.

So I gave you my experience in the other post but I totally forgot to tell you about the pain meds... They worked but I asked them to stop giving me them early because it stings like the dicken when they put in it my iv. I get reactions from morphine and I didn't get anyting from this so it's definalty different than that.

Thank you sooooo much for replying I am trying to get all of my questions answered and out of the way. The IV post was the only message I received. Again I appreciate you answering my questions.
How was everything?

I had VSG with Dr. Joya on April 28th.  I had no problems with the pain meds at all and they took very good care of me.  They also gave me something to calm me down prior to surgery and I believe they also gave meds to keep your stomach settled.  I only too my pain meds a couple times after my surgery.  You are in good hands.  I would recommend him to everyone.  If I can be of any further assistance please feel free to PM me.   I also had my PCP give me a prescription for Vicoden that I filled before I went but I hardly used them at all.

I'd say you have nothing to worry about.  I don't remember that much pain to speak of and the nurses are great to make sure you are comfortable.

Thank you for the feedback Gerald has been great with answering my many questions, and you all have been amazing on here as well. It is really nice to have people to talk to that have already been through the process.

Dr. Joya and his staff are wonderful.  The nurses are very caring and see to your every need.  I had no nausea after surgery (which I usually do) so they must have given me something for that.  Pain was not that bad either.  By the time I got back to the hotel, I was walking on the beach.  You are in very good hands.....no worry.

Blessings and good luck......Dee

Thank you all for the replies. I think my mind is made up. you all are wonderful on here and it really helps with the process iof muddling through unknown territory. One quick question. After a year out are you able to eat more or have any issues with "upchuck" if you eat too quickly or too much?
