My Incisions Are So Itchy!!!!!
I know it is because I am healing and I am not scratching but it's driving me crazy. Steri-strips are starting to come loose already as if right on time.
Any suggestions on what I can do until I am healed? I already have stuff to make my scarring less noticeable but until then just call me scratchy or is that Itchy??
Also, everyone is talking about drains but I never had a drain. Has anyone else who has been sleeved not had a drain after surgery?
Cheers all!!!

OMG! I thought I was the only one. My incisions have itched since I got home. The steri strips all came off, but the itch is still there... I have tried calamine lotion, hydrocortizone, and benadryl cream, with minor success, but am still as Elvis put it "itching like a man on a fuzzy tree!" I didn't have a port either and have 5 incisions. All of my incisions are healing and scabbed over, they just itch!
Oh the itchies were the worst! My Dr. used that Dermabond stuff instead of the steri strips and I had an allergic reaction to it. There wasn't much that they could do to help. I would put hydrocortisone cream AROUND the incisions where it itched but never on the incisions and sometimes at night to get some rest I would take some liquid benadryl. It also seemed to help the itchiness during the day if I wore a control type tank top under my clothes such as by spanx or flexees. Good luck and I hope that it goes away soon!
I was also sleeved on the 29th, have loose steri-strips and am itchy! It is noce to not be alone!!!!!!
I was always taught that when a scab is ictchy, that is a good sign. I was taught that the itchy-ness occurs as new skin is forming under the scab. For this reason, I try very hard not to scratch them. I don't want to scratch the scabs off and cause it to take more time to heal.
The ice pack is a good idea. I will be trying this later. That should definietly relieve the itching!
