Tell me your list of slider foods
By the definition that I eat more over a long period (keep going back for bites here and there): CHIPS!
I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within." - Ramona L. Anderson
I thosed them away and even used dish soap in case I even thought to dig them out again.
My sister always told me if you are tempted by an evil food and get rid of it make sure you can't ever eat it again and she told me use dish soap...... LOL it works
I am a huge encourager of destroying, binning, and then putting something nasty on stuff that needs to not find its way into your mouth.
This is a funny story (stop me if you've heard me tell it before!)
In one of the books I read for my mental WLS maintenance, there are exerpts from different folks who have lost weight/tried/et cetera. Anyway this one is my favorite and, honestly, I am sure that I am her. :}
"Oh, if I want something I just buy a pack of it, and then get some out, and put the rest in the trash and spray Raid on it. But you really have to look out. Raid does not taste that bad."

- chips (mmm, Doritos...)
- ice cream/milkshakes
- popcorn (but I still get a small or kid's size of it at the movies, LOADED with lots of butter - good way for me to add extra fat)
- definitely french fries
- candy (damn those coconut M&Ms)
Oddly enough, I can also eat an entire bagel from Panera with no problem (those are some BIG bagels!). It's like those simple carbs just diappear somewhere between my mouth and my stomach.

Which made me feel so much better. I started to worry about my restriction......but potatos must be a slider food because they disapeared somewhere between my mouth and tummy,,,,just like your bagel. This is sooo dangerous. I will have to stay far far far away from potatoes! I have a wheat allergy, so potatoes are a wheat free food......but dangerous to weight loss!!!
This is how I deal with potatos, because honestly, I could eat baked potato sandwiches (nuke a tater, mash in its skin cover with butter, salt, peper and worchestershire sauce and plop between bread with mayonnaise - yea.. anyone wonder if I have carb issues? :} No? no one?? )
Anyway - I do not eat them AT HOME. I make some wickid delicious ones for handsomeface for his daily lunches (I use my steamer and steam red taters and orange or red bells, then whip together with Duke's and corn nibblets, heaven! And just add some pickles, more mayo and other crunchiness if you need tater salad in a pinch! must..stop..thinking..o..taters..) Anyway - so I ALWAYS have them here, delicious, and made up in the house, and they are one of those things that if I START I will eat until they are gone.. so!
I only eat them out of the house. Scalloped taters in my home would have no hope of lasting through the night. none.
YOU WILL BE DOOOOOMMMEED SCALLOPY TATERS!! DOOOOOMMED!!
you like cauli? maybe you could make the creamy deliciousness and scallop up some cauli? or some zuccini slices that you salted and got the water out of, for the slicely mouth feel? (texture freak anyone? me? me?)
Yaay for more lessons learned!!

So, these ARE major sliders????
I have made many Faux potato and pasta dishes with Cauliflower...and I think it's time to dig out the low carb cookbooks and start making that stuff again. Potatoes are EVIL!! EVIL I TELL YOU! Corn fed Midwesterner my ass......more like potato fed.....(I'm originally a mid westerner)
YES....Yay for more learning!!!!!!
I am telling you I WOULD HAVE EATEN THEM UNTIL THEY WERE GONE!! I would not have even BOTHERED doing the math!! But YES - I definitely can eat ****POTS of taters give them to me however you like - down the hatch by the sackfulls!!
We have a place that the neighbors meet and have wings or burgers or whatever and they have these huge wonderful onion rings. I can eat a whole basket of the onion rings by myself.
I can eat their full order of steak fries by myself.
*Of course - understanding I HAVE NOT EATEN ANY MEAT WITH THIS! THIS IS ME EATING THAT STUFF BY ITSELF*
Capitals for emphAsis, not for the yelling.
And too, see here is the rub - for some folks they are a non issue, or a couple of tablespoons and they have had enough - for me there is just SOMETHING about taters!! The texture, the taste, the way they react with my body chemistry, something just tweaks that WHO CARES EAT EM ALL switch of mine!!
OOOH!! do you have a george foreman grill? Here is one of my favorite fauxtato recipes!!
Zucchini - I like to use my spirooli that makes it into "noodley" things - but you could use the grater if that's what you had
Anyway - grated/spirooli'd zucchini, spray "I Can't Believe Its A Petroleum Product" on it and lemon pepper. Or you could use real butter, or buttery pam - whatever, the ICBIAPP for me was more for the buttery taste than anything..
Then put a glob of it on the George and cook it until its crispidy delightful - like a hash brown!! yes! Delish!
*** and a note about the eating baskets of onion rings, tots, or the full serving of steak fries - part of my eating plan structure is that once a month, (as long as I am not wearing last month's indulgence, like the home made caramel indulgence, I wore that for a good month :} ) I have an "anything goes" MEAL.
I said MEAL. Not day, not weekend. MEAL.
So, if what I want is a bigassed basket of tots with crazily salted ketchup, by God that's what I am having. If I want to eat tortilla chips before dinner and for dinner get the queso with shrimp, steak and chorizo in it (so I can eat more chips with dinner!) then by god THAT is what I am going to do.
And I do not worry about it, because 90 to 95% of my eating for the month has been food that nourishes me, and does not make me triggery.
Now, if its a holiday month and, say we were going to Chicago with the outlaws, or Texas for the family, honestly I just need to get picky about what I could have ANYTIME versus what I can only have THERE FOR THE HOLIDAY, and my one meal thing kind of goes out the window, but then - if you look at it in the big picture - that is 1 month out of 12 where there was more than 1 anything goes MEAL for the month. And, I just get back to eating the way my body PREFERS soon as I get back home.
That's how I do the food part of maintenance, and keep from becoming some food's ***** again.
