I started today.  Corned beef hash.  I know, lots of fat but there's also a lot of protein.  I don't really know how much to eat.  I'm not sure what I'm suppose to feel.  I am so excited to be eating something, but this is soooo stressful to me!  I don't want to vomit, but I also want to eat enough.  Help!

I start tomorrow and I'm tempted to start today. I want some real damn food. I'm hungry and I always feel empty inside. The liquids just do not sit long with me. I'm going to Sam's to get crab cakes. I'll mush them up, they should be soft and good protein. I'll be doing tuna and chicken salad, refried beans, egg salad, etc;
But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. ~2 Chronicles 15:7

I'm supposed to start on dense protein.  Huh?  I haven't even mastered the mushie phase.  I'm so terrified that I'll get sick so I really haven't been eating much.  My appetite is pretty much gone.  I drink one shake in the morning that has 50g's of protein--that way I can sample and try other proteins on a trial basis while I'm still trying to figure out what sits well with me.  Otherwise, there is no way I'd even get close to 60 to 70g's of protein a day.

Here is a link.  But also look at what Katie said about not being able to absorb all 50g.  I'll call my dietitcian and check.

I have heard that the body can only absorb about 30 grams of protein at one time.   Taking in more than that may just be a waste of money.  Just something to think about. :)

My NUT says that is not true.  It's like saying the body can only absorb x amount of calories at a time.

Jengo,

We were sleeved on the same day!! This week for me is still full liquids. i find I am barely getting 500 calories a day. My appetite is not that great but I keep thinking I dont want to have significant hair loss and I need to eat to live.  I love McAlisters Deli so I purchased a couple of cups of soup put them in the blender to cream/puree them.  They are tasty as I am sooo limited for another week.  Yogurt, cream soups and popsicles have gotten old. Next week, I do progress to soft, mushies but still no meat!! At least next week though I can have a little more variety with beans, eggs and potatoes.  I know the McAlisters soups may not be all that nutritious but at this point I am not eating anything else and I am eating a very small portion of it.
