Why do some people love them and others say they are poison?  Please weigh in if you've tried these products.  Also, if you think they are bad please tell me why, not just the possible side effects.  I'm not really an all-natural kind of gal so products like diet soda don't worry me, although I don't drink anyway.....except with vodka.  (and actually Crystal Light and vodka is much better - thanks Weigh****chers)

Anyway, give me the skinny on Nioxin and let me know if you are an all-natural kind of person and maybe that sways your opinion...?

Thanks!

I haven't heard any negative comments on the products so not sure what you've heard but I have tried them and I don't think they live up to their hype.  I've been using the shampoo, conditioner and root lifter and I haven't noticed any difference in my hair.  It's still falling out like crazy

I ordered Ovation Cell Therapy so anxious to try this.

Good luck,

I heard the Nioxin would dry out my scalp and hair so I opted for Folicure extra care shampoo. It was a bit drying, but I only used it every other day. On the opposite days, I used Nexxus Dualiste Anti-breakage shampoo/conditioner. I had new growth coming in before the shedding stopped, and to this day (over a year since the big shed stopped), I still am getting new growth. Since nothing was going to stop the shedding, I figured I'd go with the folicure shampoo and just let it happen. Nothing is going to make it great. I also refused to purchase any high priced snake oil, magic pills, or other concoctions because I knew the hair loss was going to happen. I just focused on getting in my protein, vitamins, and let it happen. After all, it's going to happen, and I needed to just accept it.

I'm the furthest thing from all natural type person. I never took biotin, or any other pill form hair/nail supplement.

I am a hairdresser and I can tell you that nioxin won't really grow much more it will kind of prevent any more than normal (110) hairs a day) thinning out. Folicure works great for volume if thats what your looking for. Nioxin does have a moisturizing cleaner and scalp therapy which is alot less drying than the regular one which seems to strip your hair of any moisture. So all in all there is no magic product to sprout more hair...because if there was that person would be a gazillionaire! Good luck

I am 14 months out and have a healthy 2 inch grow out.....mostly around my hairline..i was careful with my protein intake til 8 months out..no special hair stuff....After researching i felt like i was going to lose it no matter what i did...no one else would have known cept me!

my suggestion is to save the extra $ for clothes as you shrink!

I was so worried about losing my hair as it was so thin and fine to begin with I was determined it would not happen to me.
I was going to get in the protein use all products available including Nioxin and take biotin etc. etc.
But I should have listened to my nut and surgeon, everyone is different and if it is going to happen to you it is going to happen some of the products you think work for some but not for others ... Nothing worked for me however I am happy to say that they are correct when telling you that if it happens it is only temporary and it will come back mine finally did I started to lose at about the 6 month mark and it stopped at about the 11 month mark began coming back at about the 15 month I am two years and two months and hair is back. SO I say try anything and everything I don't think anyhing hurts and heck it could help you never know.

Best wishes

How bad was your hair loss? I'm afraid I will go bald because my hair is very thin also..What kind of hairstyles did you do to cover up the loss? Can others notice the loss or is it to where only we notice??? I am 3 1/2 months out and I am shedding already...

I got some leave in Nioxin stuff but it didn't seem to work for me. I ended up getting about half my hair cut off (was nearly to my waist, now just touches the tops of my shoulders). It's still falling out, but not as bad and doesn't make nearly the mess since it's half as long. I've got about an inch of new growth. Lost most of my bangs but it's growing in under. I part it to the side now and sweep my dark little bang growth over to the left so no one sees it.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.   24lbs lost pre-surgery. I'm 5'2.

I used this years ago when I had some mild hair thinning from over processing and weightless and it worked… I saw a change in about 4 weeks in the amount of hair in my brush and in about 7 weeks could see new growth. Everyone said that the new growth would fall out when I stopped using it but it did not do that at all. My mother in law was complaining about her hair thinning about 2 months ago and I got her the Walgreens brand Nioxin and I saw her yesterday and she had just had her hair colored, she pulled her bangs back and laughed telling me it was growing a little further down on her forehead and that her hairdresser was surprised by how much it was coming in. I could see that it was MUCH thicker. Oh and she was taking a hair and nail vitamin that she got at CVS.
Good Luck

I use Nioxin just because I know they have a formula for color treated hair.  I spend a lot of cash on salon services, and all the data on folicure said it had sodium laureth sulfate.  I think that's just the shampoo, though.  I think the other products are okay.

I haven't tried Ovation, although I googled it tonight and am going to read about it tomorrow.

My hair is pretty thin because of the PCOS, so I'm hoping that after the fall out stage it gets thicker than it is now!  I'm not really holding my breath though.  As long as it comes back, I'll be happy!
