Hi Romy,
I've had my sleeve since November 2008 so I'm just over 2 years out. I've maintained a weight that is comfortable to me for over a year and a half. My sleeve is still working for me. I consider myself more normal now than when I was fresh out of surgery. I don't get asked if there was ssomething wrong with a meal that I eat out because I eat enough of it. I have to watch my carb and sweet intake or I'll balloon up 10 lbs, but I can easily get it under control when I focus on it. I have several friends who had VSG that didn't quite get close to their goal. I worked out a lot and still do. Just be realistic and it will do it's job, but like with all weight loss surgery, it's not a miracle magic cure for all mental hunger issues.

I was banded for 18 long hard months and I've been sleeved for 2.5 years. I've been at goal for over three years, life is good!

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

3 1/2 years out....I lost all I wanted and more and am still VERY happy to have my sleeve. It's still working, and I have great restriction and no problems eating anything or any complications. As others have mentioned, one can gain by eating the wrong foods, but it's a powerful tool, and I'm enjoying maintaining!

Great question! I was wondering the same myself. I realize that there are no quick fixes and that I will have to work hard to get to my goal and maintain it (even harder). I have seen RNY's regain also even with the malabsorption component. Actually I think that the malabsorption component in the long run scares me more. Osteoporosis and iron deficiencies are no joke. Good luck to you Romy. I am still trying to get approved and scheduled so hopefully I will be following in your footsteps!
Two and a half years out and still THRILLED! Made it to goal and stayed there easily until I had to have spinal surgery (completely unrelated to WLS). While I was recovering, I ate anything and everything that would go down, and now I am chipping away at the 20 pounds I gained. With such a tiny stomach and good restriction, it is doable! I wouldn't trade my sleeve for a gazillion dollars!
