Did anyone wear a sports bra during surgery?
Clothing is not sterile=no clothes in the operating room (on occasion some women with their period are given hospital disposable underwear, but I dont know a surgeon who would operate on someone in clothing)- They may wear a bra AFTER but honestly they give you 2 gowns, blankets, the last concern will be wearing a bra- would be uncomfortable in bed also I imagine. These people in surgery are professional, they see breasts all day long. Another pair just blends in (unless you have a huge pair of fake G's or something ridiculous)
Although, I did bring undies for after in the room because a bunch of different people needed to look at my incision and I was tired of flashing my haircut

Most hospitals don't allow them. They have to keep things sterile, plus it would probably get wet when they clean your stomach and prep you for the operation. You are out of it so much, you won't really care one way or the other. I couldn't put one on right after surgery either because between my IV and the drain, it wasn't worth the effort! LOL
Modesty always goes out the window when you are having any type of surgery and for those of us that have had kids......FOR SURE! Your doctor and his/her assistants have seen it all, so you'll be no different than anyone else. Plus you will be waking up with a new sleeve and I doubt you'll be waking up to see if your bra is still on. You'll do great!

I don't think they let you wear anything into the operating room but the gown and socks they give you. We had a discussion on this a year or so ago. i think they want your chest area free in the unlikely event there is some complication. In my case, my boobs were big and saggy enough that they probably covered some of the area where incisions were to be made. I have heard that they sometimes have to tape large breasts out of the way. So i took a ball point pen and wrote "hi" under one of them. Hope it gave a laugh to some surgical nurse. Realisticly, a surgical nurse will prepare the area and every part of you will be well draped except your belly where they have to work. If you watch the surgery being performed on utube you will see this - the patient's privacy and modesty are protected. talk to your surgeon or the barriatric coordinator at the hospital you are using and I am sure your concerns will be put to rest. and no one ever said a thing about my "hi" message. I am sure my surgeon never saw it and a nurse cleaned it off when the area was sterilized. gl with your surgery. you will love the sleeve. diane
