when can I have avocado?

So I found myself day dreaming about guacamole today...just smashed up avocado with a little salt..and spooning it into my mouth haha... when do you think I will be able to eat it?  I start soft food tomorrow..and avocado is soft...but it's also a fruit I think and I'm not cleared for fruit until week 8...

another quick question, my plan says that I can have ground meat as well...meatballs and meatloaf are considered ground meat right? even though they are all compact...

Just wondering what your thoughts were...

I'd say you can have it now. Just remember that although it is very good for you, it is also very calorie dense. Just be aware of that.

I was eating them around 2 weeks post op. Fresh Avocado, little lemon juice, salt & pepper and a drizzle of olive oil. Yum!

I had small piece of nice soft avocado just after my first week of liquids. In week 2. It wasn't exactly liquid, but very close.
It was delicious, and was very nutritious besides.

Do you think I should be worried about the little stringy parts of the avocado?  I know that we aren't supposed to have fruit because the little fibers could cause a leak...

I don't think I've had stringy avocados.

As for meatballs and meatloaf - I'd say yes - just be sure they are tender. I tried meatballs early on but I overcooked them (it, actually) and it did not go over well.

My surgery was Jan 17th.  I actually had 1/4 of an avacado yesterday with a touch of italian dressing...and it went down wonderfully and really curbed my guacamole craving!!

They are just SO delicious and so good for you!  I've been eating them since about 3 weeks post op.   An entire avocado has approx 250 calories and at this stage I can eat 1/2 and do as often as possible/as often as I have them around.  We simply aren't able to eat the quantity that would make the calories work against us ... They are full of good fats that make us feel satisfied, too.  Perfect food, IMHO!
