I agree that people use the stall word too frequently, but not losing weight for 2 or more weeks in a row is a stall IMO.

What isn't a stall is:

- not losing weight for a few days
- not losing weight one week (that's water retention most of the time)
- losing weight but just not as fast as you want to lose
- getting off the program and eating more / working out less and not losing weight

I have seen all of those called a stall and I do get frustrated after a while, but especially the last one, where the person knows what they aren't doing right but wants to hear something to justify their behavior.

Stalls are REAL !!!!

They happen......

Stall is a bad word...... until you get into maintenance....... than you wish for a life long "Stall"

"Most" times you read about a "Stall" on this board it is probably for reals.....

"Lots" of times you read about stalls..... it's food related..... a food you added..... or adjusted.

For me.... lets see..... I was in a Beef Jerky Stall..... Than it was a Peanut Butter Stall.....Than a cheese stall......Than a Nut Stall......

Wishing for an Ice Cream Stall...............

@ Mary R.

Awwww My dear congratulations  with your surgery and welcome to the losers bench.
i am farely new as well. ( 7 weeks)

You're at a little different point.  You are  just two weeks out and your focal point is sip, walk, get your protein in and rest.    Keep going....  and stick to your doctors orders.

At my 2  weeks out to 3 1/2 weeks out I also slowed down in weight loss so I thought.  The first week I lost 20 pounds.   i only had a 2 day pre-op liquid diet...some have two weeks pre-op liquid diet.  My body was just adjusting and then it started up again for me.   In that week and a half I still lost weight,  oh i think about 2 pounds or so, I cannot remember.   Its normal to slow down around your time to 3 1/2 weeks out.   a good idea is to measure yourself and you will see you are still losing inches and it is AWESOME!!!!!

the real problem was I had expectations in thinking it was going to go down  LIKE the first wee****il I read some of the ol timers, who track how much they lose a month, anywhere from 4 to 11 pounds a month.  then I realized..... oh... This takes time.      bummer...  but it helped with my acceptance.

Funny how I can put the weight on faster than I can take it off.  :)

Cheers!

Thank you to eveyone who posted here..I really needed to read everything you all posted!!..I will be 4 weeks this Friday post-op and for 7 days now there has not  been a single budge on the scale! You can't help but feel disappointment even though you know its temporary!  Its really no surprise that when you loose almost 20 pounds in the first 2 weeks that the body needs to catch up. I hope this won't last toooooo long. ....I'm trying to see the bigger picture!!
