You are not alone last night I was just thinking no way. I find that I have done so much research that I was only looking at all the negatives. So when I woke up this moring I was like this is going to benefit me and I started thinking about all the things that are going to get better for me as far a health reasons. I think most of us go threw the ups and downs. It is a major operation and we had to be dedicated to make changes for the rest of our lives. So I decided I have done enough research. My surgery is three weeks away. I hope you start to feel better. When is your surgery?

not sure what to say.  other than think of why you decided to have surgery. what is going on in your life that you decided to make this extreme life change. if you are afraid of having the sleeve.. theN  there is RN Y.

Either one will help you with your weight loss.

as for me.. i'm so excited i think my dr. is going to get tired of me calling and emailing her. i was not sure which one i'm having and to be honest i'm still not. but i cant have to feel bettter about me..

hope i was helpful. :)

I don't know if anyone can help you get to a comfortable frame of mind. I suspect we've all had those very same thoughts. I know I did. The morning of surgery I remember thinking I must be nuts to do this. I carried on and couldn't be happier. At less than 3 weeks out I feel GREAT!!!

Partial and full gastrectomies have been performed for DECADES for things like stomach cancer and ulcers with no real adverse effects.  When I had surgery I googled partial/full gastrectomies and found a family who had recently done one of those genetic dna tests because members of their family were prone to stomach cancer.  Well sure enough many of the family members could fall susceptible as well, so they opted to have their entire stomachs removed to NOT have to deal with it in the future.

If you weren't nervous about having a major part of your stomach removed, you wouldn't be normal.  It is permanent, but think about what it's doing for you right now. It's allowing you to eat so much that you are overweight and unhappy about it. And by restricting the size of your stomach you won't be able to eat as much and as a bonus, you won't have the part of the stomach that produces a hunger hormone either. So this is a win/win.

Like so many people have said before me, they are removing your part of your stomach not part of your brain. So it's a matter of how you perceive this surgery that will determine how well you do with it. And what is your alternative? Diet and exercise? Without even knowing you, I know that you have tried that many, many times, right? Did it work for you?

Always the best wishes, Sue
