Four years after surgery
Congratulations on your 4 year mark. This is a wonderful post and I really enjoy your perspective on life. The part I loved best was your comment about being grateful. I think we all need to be reminded daily of just how grateful we should be to be alive and yes, if those of us who have had surgery, know that we are alive and more healthy today than before due to this amazing VSG, then grateful should be enter our minds every day. Four years this November my husband had the VSG and in August of this year will be my 3 year mark of having the VSG. We too realize this is a tool and have continued to work it and have kept the weight off. We are definitely not "skinny minnies" but we are no longer on medication, can walk, dance and exercise easy and just in general, are healthy and enjoying living life to the fullest. Yes, it is a personal decision to have this surgery and may not be for everyone but my husband and I count it a Godsend that we had the opportunity to do something about our weight and health that will affect us the rest of our lives. Thanks again for your post and I wish for you continued successs in your weight loss journey.
THank you for sharing!! I love to hear the vets talk about life years after surgery. It's all roses and pies in the sky at the beginning...lol

Thank you for sharing and for some important tips, especially about the exercise. I am 5 months post-op and doing well, but I have yet to get into any regular exercise routine. I have always thought of exercise as a dirty word, and avoided it like the plague. Yet, I have noticed the weight loss slow down considerably in the last month, and I know somewhere in my consciousness that I must incorporate some exercise into my daily routine, but I continue to avoid that subject. Your post reminds me why I had surgery in the first place, and that I am not using this tool properly if I don't exercise to improve my overall health and strength. Thanks again for the very timely reminders.

Absolutely wonderful post! Thank you! I figured out early on that no one was as interested in my weight loss as I was and started a blog to chronicle my journey. I have "met" more strangers through my blog who just totally get where I'm coming from. It is SO important to have support on this journey and into maintenance and beyond.
Thank you for coming here and paying your gratitute forward with your insight. We sincerely appreciate it!
